Windward Brand Leather Jacket Collection

Six is not much of collection given the many styles with the Windward label. These six run from pre-war to early 60s, at least I think so. The Classic Aero Windward is included. All of these jackets are 42-44 very wearable and do get worn. The post-war label bears the Nylon Stitched proclamation. The other label is older, not sure when they changed.

This one has a pre-war look and feel. Horsehide. Light weight jacket. the back shot looks like my BK Dodger

This has a more modern looking label than above. This is labeled Horsehide and size 42. Like new, not even broken in. Very warm.

Here's mine. Horse/fleece lined. It too has a "nylon stitched" label but it is located on the bottom of the jacket.

I just got that jacket. It is basically new. It is also black. to me brown would have been less interesting.

I'll post some pics of the label and zipper to help place an age on it. I don't know if they used both labels through the 50s, my guess is no. The Nylon Stitched logo has the post-war modern sound. I just looked at the stitching on the collared jacket, it is cotton thread.

unlike Dinnerman, I have not found a jacket like these in a thrift in a long time. I've found a few, but none of these. I don't get these jackets for $10, $20, $30,$40...sometimes I feel like I'm stealing them, but most of you probably think I'm being robbed! I thought they were a good deal or I would not have bought them. You only get hurt when you sell them! I've got a lot money in my jacket collection. I like em and I pay for em.

These are the older two labels and the zippers. I always refer to Dinnermans zipper guide, but don't always get it. These two zippers are similar except the pulls? One looks to be older square end, the black one with cut corners. Not sure what I'm looking at..

I got that jacket a couple of years ago came from a town not too far from me. Smelled horrible, cigs. came with a vintage beer can opener in the pocket from a midwest brewery. The smell is gone, kept the opener. Installed a new zipper and had the elephant ear pocket flaps stitched. The Steerhide on that jacket is as tough as any leather I have encountered. I loved the style, nothing I've seen quite like it. Until recently it was on my list of jackets I love and can't wear. I've lost weight and can feel Ok in it. It is like wearing a turtle shell.

It is a very nice jacket, unique style with great leather.

Here is the Alden label Classic Windward with an Aero custom French Horsehide Windward. Both of these jackets are 46. The Aero has been sold. Too big and too nice too keep. Absolutely beautiful. Showed up on ebay the last few months.

Really nice collection. Jackets from that period are hard to find in good wearable condition now. At least on this side of the Atlantic. Back in the seventies they were easy to find and quite cheap and I wore and sold on a few. But of course a forties jacket them was only thirty years old, the same age as an eighties jacket is now…

I have bought the odd original over recent years but they have to be very good if I’m to wear them, and most aren’t so they got moved on. That’s why the repros are so popular of course. I did buy a very nice US made fifties HH classic bomber jacket recently which is very wearable with hardly a mark on the hide. No label so I don’t know who made it unfortunately. It is nice to know that, and with your collection you do.
