Willis and Geiger A-2

I picked this one up at Christmas time and was struck by the weight of the jacket. I also noted the leather didn't have the pebble texture goat skin usually does. Would this be Horse skin? How would I be able to tell. The tag was torn out when I got it but for <$40 shipped to my door I figured I could live with it.

Nice Score! Your W&G jacket would be made of horsehide or steerhide.

Thanks, I didn't realize they used steer. Is there any way to tell for sure what it is?

It's Horse, W&G offered two different A-2's, one in Goat the other in Horsehide. Before Lands End bought the brand they were made by a certain gentleman in New York as I understand it. I think the one you have is newer and from the Lands End Era. Still an excellent looking score!

Nice! This is a wonderful 'exercise' jacket. You could give it a wash or decorate it.... Was it an Ebay find?
