It's a minimal increase to boxes and large envlopes. It's not an increase on all postage.

The problem is (as usual) that eBay is recommending Priority mail and tracking to its sellers to cover its own derriere with delivery problems so some won't send it first class international which (with the fall of the AUD) makes a lot of bidding prohibitive. Thanks eBay!

I think this is the whole enchilada. They want to force us to use the flat rate priority boxes. Eventually I am sure they will. When I see Ebay plastered all over the USPS it is just a matter of time.
Unless someone is not paying attention every single penny counts now to customers.

If the price is right and you really want something buy it,but like everything you must be selective.When you see an item think do i really need that i"ve found it pays to take a step back and take stock of what you already have.

Also keep in mind that when bidding, most buyers take the total price including shipping into account. When shipping goes up, buyers just lower the bid amount they're willing to pay in order to accommodate the higher shipping cost.

It will just lead to more padding of shipping prices. I constantly send messages to eBay sellers on their bloated shipping costs (One person had $9 to mail a table spoon!). Most of the time they lower the cost, but its still crazy.

Ive mailed white a few things myself, and I know it does not take $12 to mail something that weights 1 pound.

Good point. The item may be a steal, but if it's a small object and the seller wants to ship it via one of the higher-priced methods...why bother?

Of course, I haven't been buying on Ebay since they changed their policy on checks and money orders.

I too will contact sellers to complain about their shipping costs. I will also not hesitate to report sellers who inflate their shipping costs too high, because at that point, they're just engaging in a scam.

believe me when I say there are definitely those who take big advantage of the newbies. I know as I was one that got hooked when I first went to ebay to buy. a .99 item with $20.00 shipping. Not..

I am speaking of the usps.com site itself being complicated. Different pages for different countries and rules. In just a few years they have changed prices several times.
Each venue also has different ways of doing the shipping the items also. As a general dealer with over 1300 items just try figuring out shipping weight. I know I am not the only one that finds it quite a big mess.
I am not into selling to make money off of the shipping. I honestly find it the hardest part of my business and have eaten more shipping than I care to admit.

I do think this confusion is why I believe one day there will only be flat rate shipping and probably only priority.
I used to get free nonpriority boxes, free tape and free labels. I brought alot of them back to the post office when I moved to not have to move them and now wish I had not.
The free tape is no longer available. Slowly alot has been taken away. Just like cereal, coffee etc.
Getting less for more all the way around. The zones changed things also. It cost me alot more to send to California than the east coast. So if you put one price like on etsy to ship to anyone in USA for instance it is not the same for all.

Since I spend about $3,000 to $4,000 a year at the post office I have to just grin and bear it or go get a job. It hurts small business a lot but it costs more then just the postage there is also the time spent packing and filling out forms and standing in line. Also there is the cost of materials shipped to me which is going up. Shipping in and out now runs almost 12% of my costs.
Since usps went to flat rate boxes it is easy to predict the costs until the annual raise comes. I just wish I was shipping lead fishing weights

seriously.lol I refuse to scrimp on packing. I would rather have it arrive safe and sound then have to go thru refunds with the forms one has to fill out. Only one thing has broke on me and it was an antique plate at Christmas time. They must of drop kicked it.

This is true. And if, as a buyer, I feel the shipping figure quoted is really an attempt to gouge more profit, I am morel ikely to simply move on and look elsewhere - I would never be bothered with emailing the seller. The fall in the pound against the dollar has exacerbated this for me: whereas in the past it was very often still cheaper to buy the same item from the US as opposed to the UK, even allowing for the higher shipping figure, this is less often the case now. I would love a Maltest Falcon and have seen some great bargains on them on eBay US, but the shipping cost on such a weighty item remains prohibitive.
