What I see is a jacket that appears to have been tailored for somebody else, possibly the same or close off-the-rack size. But when something is tailor made, the wrong differences can make clothing do strange things. Maybe he was simply forced to wear somebody else's jacket in a pinch?

OK, I'll chime in with my 2 cent's worth. Note the wrinkles around the elbow. If he's just getting OFF the plane, then maybe he's been sitting for a while and the sleeves squinched up and got shortened that way. Maybe a moment after this shot was taken he tugged on both cuffs and the sleeves suddenly looked just right.

Narrows the possibilities of -where- he was flying.

Might I suggest his destination was perhaps Las Vegas?
I love and trust you Neece, and 1,000 thanks for the timetables, but did Vegas amount to much in 1935? I know they legalized gaming in '31, but this article suggests it was all pretty much on the down-low and not a destination for celebrities till years later.
He might have been visiting Boulder Dam, however.

The main casinos were downtown and they may have had the dude ranches near where what would become the strip. The draw was that Nevada had a no fault divorce that only took a few weeks of residency to go thru. Although at that time if you had money you went to Reno instead.

Reno?

Aha. Plot thickens.

Per IMDb, Cary divorced actress Virginia Cherrill in March 1935. This photo is dated July. Any reason he'd have needed to return in connection with that business?

Oh, and scot, I'm still wondering who Ofer is.

He probably looks less wrong than he would have had he left the plane with that huge spill stain that occurred when one of the plane did one of those hiccups and the entire contents of his cup'a did a Picasso down the front of his suit.:D

Too bad his friend's fedora didn't fit ;)
