This is uniformly true for vintage styles of music. OTOH, we are generally less Serious about it and have more fun. It's pretty tiresome reading some Belgian or Danish guy (it's always a guy) writing about Delta blues shouters in the same dry analytical style you'd use to discuss 17th century brewers' guild practices or truffle propagation in the Dordogne.
