Gentle Readers,
We have a customer who is in love with a hat he saw in the movie, "The Sting," shown near the end of the film. He wants one. It is worn by a guy who is perhaps an angel who protects the hero from being killed.
We see that it is a light-colored fur felt (perhaps "mist" rather than "silver belly"?) with a bronze colored ribbon around the crown. We've looked at it many times and couldn't tell much more about the hat in the VHS copy that we rented. (Actually, we had very different takes on what we were seeing -- was there a ribbon edge around the flange or not? A 2" brim or 2-1/4" -- or wider?) So we are hoping that someone in the Lounge would take alook and tell us what you see or know about it, or how to find out what it was. Costumes by Edith Head, I think, by the way.
Actually, that brings up the idea of a database of hats in movies, TV and ads -- what they are, manufacturer, color, brim width, etc. Any such thing out there?
Thanks!
