Although mine as well, I'm not sure the jacket in the photos @Leather Walker jacket was the one from the post with missing pics. That was my unbranded CHP which Cal identified as one of their own, only made for Leatherman. But I don't have photos of it anymore...
Oh, my mistake! I just remembered that you owned a spectacular padded CHP!
But no worries, fellas, there are some pics when @jacketjunkie was the owner:

Dear friends, I just noticed that the Leatherman store based in NY has its own CHP jacket, and am trying to find out which maker made them.

One easily noticeable feature is that those jackets have very round corners in the lapels. Also, they have a very short bottom part of the back panel and are without any belt loops. Apart from that, they look quite similar to Cal.
Here I attached some images.

Anyone here knows about the maker or anything about this jacket? All kinds of inputs are welcome! Thanks in advance.

So I think it’s pretty clear that most Leather Man CHPs that show up were made by Al’s (note that all of the ones in this thread have single sleeve stitching). I know JL gets thrown around and I’ve seen some non-CHP LM jackets made by them but if you look at JLs CHP patterns they’re always quite different from C/Als.

However, here’s something a bit different (spotted on EBay)—a ‘Hard On’ that has very similar details to a Leather Man (straight back, no belt loops) but is almost certainly a Cal. Note the double stitched sleeves and the angle of pockets and lapels. So whether or not Cal ever made a Leather Man, they certainly did rebadge jackets for the leather scene.

The plot continues to thicken!

Same way as Al's etc sold to retailers and were relabelled (same with Aero until the Highwayman thing). I seem to recall that Hard On were Cal made.

^ Exact.

It is a simple question of periods. ‘Leather Man NYC’ coincided with the production of Al's jackets, during late 90s-mid 00s. Shops like ‘Hard on Leather’ or ‘Leather Forever’ (which ran out of business in '85) repaired and resold jackets that were produced at that time. Golden Bears can also be found with these labels.

One of my Cal got "Hard on Leather" label, and three others got "Leather Forever".

We made jackets for Hard On Leather and many other leather shops in the bay area for many years.

Rember be kind to your neighbors they know where you live.

Thanks, great to have confirmation! To clarify, I wasn’t suggesting JL didn’t make jackets for these labels, just that the Cal/Al patterned CHPs have a distinct and different pattern from JL CHP jackets (which I think don’t tend to have the seam along the top of the hand-warmers). But I’m open to being corrected!

Great info on brands to add to eBay search terms there…. Yes I’d noticed GB CHPs were very widely relabelled (Taste of Leather, Leather Forever, Hard on, Male Hide etc). Taubers crop up as well, but less so.

Any idea who (if any of the above) made this pattern?
