Not in Canada. We didn't introduce conscription until 1943 (recall that our war started in 1939) and relatively few were actually taken in, with numbers only in the several thousands actually being sent to Europe.

Having said that, they apparently fought with vigour and valour equal to their volunteer counterparts. There was concern they wouldn't do as well, being there against there will as it were.

I did. Wasn't impressed -- it read like a modernized version of the same arguments the NAM was putting out in 1938-40.

Burton Folsom, Another Cato/FEI/Mackinac Center creature expanded upon the subject in "New Deal or Raw Deal", pipe blushed as I recall, in 2009. When at a cocktail party I tasked him with a number of, well, shall we say "errors" (actually quotations and figures made up out of whole cloth) he replied "well, they may not be strictly true, but they illustrate a deeper truth".
