Most recent band I saw was the Chop Tops out of Santa Cruz. They put on a really great show.

You've seen them, or are you surmising? I'm distracted by my crush on the singer so I didn't really notice. ;)

Hahaa ;) .. I'm just guessing from that picture!! Looks fine to me! Especially since he appears to be wearing a tail lol

David Booker last night. OK as always. We were treated to detailed information about Booker's love life or lack thereof. Ick.

The Queen City Jazz Band. They play mostly fast 20s songs, but they've been adding different tempos to their repertoire. During their past two gigs I've been to, they've played "Hound Dog"--a 1953 R&B hit by Big Mama Thornton. The band's singer sounds a bit like Thornton and has a good style for the songs she sings.

No one big recently, though last year I got to see Tom Waits (swooon) and Pink Martini.

There's a local Brazilian cafe with a rooftop bar, and every Friday night Juanita Ellington sings jazz there. She's a cousin or niece of Duke, and a wonderful performer. Saw her a couple weeks ago, and as soon as I've budgeted for a few more drinks and a tip, I'll be going back.

Saw Prairie Home Companion in May. Polecat Creek was with the show. Spent four days at Summerfest in Milwaukee in July. Saw the Fray, Jack's Mannequin, Elvis Costello, Shinedown and many, many other excellent bands. Haven't seen any live music in August other than my local guitar-playing friends and me.

I've only caught one or two shows in the last few months. The last was in May, at the Blues City Cafe in Memphis-town. :) Hillbilly Casino. One of our favorite rockabilly bands around. I was really hoping they'd get to play Viva Las Vegas this coming year but I don't think so.

And I am going to see my favorite band, Clutch, in September...for the 11th time. :eusa_clap

The Cassini Ensemble of Ann Arbor (playing a la Schrammel).

We had them play for our summer party on the 8th.

Unfortunately, John was unable to find a Zither player for this gig, and so the music was not entirely authentic, but it as lovely nonetheless. They did a fine job considering the obscurity of this musical style here in Southern MI.

This coming weekend we will be hearing some old-time country over at the Buck Lake Ranch in Angola, IN.
