I'm not talking blonde, oh no. I'm talking purest of the pure, virgin white. The kind of hair that looks like a halo framing the face - ethereal and beautiful. I'm in love with it! And I thought that since the thread on grey hair had brought out so many of the secret grey lovers within us then maybe the white hair lovers of the FL could have their own thread too.

So if you have pictures of white hot beauties, or stories about creating or wearing white hair please share them! I would love to go white myself, thought I'm apprehensive about whether I could pull it off. In the meantime I'd love to drool over everybody else's lucious locks if I may! Young or old, dyed or natural - it's all devineeee

Stories about white hair? Well, I've got one of those. When I had a mohawk, I dyed it half white & half blue-black -- so that when I put the mohawk, from the left side of my head it was black, from the right side it was white.

I am naturally a barely-strawberry dirty blonde, so we did not have much trouble lifting my hair to white. My hair tends to bleach out very quickly, so it just took normal bleach & purple toner to take it to white. I really liked it but the white was very damaging to the hair, obviously. Even when I started to henna my hair, for a while I kept a white streak. The remnants of it are in the bottom 1/3 of my hair now, and the hair there is a totally different texture.

It's gorgeous, though!

I bought a white bobbed wig a while ago. I am very pale and thought I'd look all ethereal, especially with some shimmery highlighter on my skin- BUT I just looked God awful, like and old lady. It definatly was not flatering on me. Pity.

White is my favourite hair colour. I'd have my hair white if it weren't so darn expensive!

Here's a few beauties who haven't been mentioned:

I liked it...it was better than I thought. My teen daughter picked it, but I ended up liking it more than expected. I didn't read the book though. Lovely costumes and style and the whole 30s kind of feel. Her hair and look is gorgeous in it.

During the 80's I had huge snow white spiky hair and looked like a dandelion clock.. One day when I was going to college a photography student stopped me and asked me if I would pose for some picures for his portfolio. Well, what could go wrong thought I?

I went to his flat, which was in a part of Liverpool that is now very gentrified, but then was full of students and ladies of 'negotiable affection'. I did take my burly boyfriend of the time to check this guy out. As it turned out, he was a very nice young man who lived with his wife, and not the least bit sleazy. Then he asked me to pop on his wifes wedding dress and some red lipstick and pose draped over some tombstones in the gardens of Liverpool's huge cathedral.

Well, in for a penny... So off we walked through downtown Liverpoool on a freezing but sunny afternoon, me in a big white wedding dress with my big white hair to the graveyard, where I duly draped myself decoratively over the ancient stones with a rose between my teeth (this is sounding like a Nick Cave song). It was actually quite fun and he was aiming at an arty 4AD look, the kind of thing that would look good on a Cocteau Twins album cover of the time.

Anyway, as he snapped away we noticed a grizzly looking guy with cowboy boots taking a keen interest, and as we were getting ready to go he made his move. He asked what we were doing and we explained and then he asked if we'd be interested in taking some more 'interesting pictures' or perhaps, some 'films'. And here's the bit that I always remember, he said that he worked a lot in Amsterdam and specialised in ... 'Freaks and Dudes'(!).

Well, I wasn't sure which category I fitted into, but I wasn't bl**dy well hanging around to find out, so we scarpered!

I never did find out if those photos were any good. I know I haven't appeared on any arty album covers yet. If anyone spots me, please let me know as I may be due a royalty by now!
