Which shaving soaps/creams do you want to try?

I tried the Palmolive shave cream, partly because Fleming has Bond using it in From Russia With Love, but it got used up pretty quickly and wasn't that great. While I'm tempted to try another TOBS cream, the sandalwood works pretty darn well.

Paul , I love a bunch of TOBS creams , and Aftershaves , and Colognes , but I've receive more compliments from the ladies for TOBS Jermyn St by far , Its great . Get the Cologne , too . I can tell you about most , St James is the thickest cream I've ever seen , Lemon and Limes is Great , and Eton College is a good citrus scent .

I tried Cremo . No lather , but slick . I heard its a head shavers cream , or for ladies shaving their legs , but it definitely works .

At the end of the day, that's the desired result, right? That it works, clean, smooth shave without flaying oneself. If it feels nice and smells nice when I'm done, success!

-Haslinger Schafmilch w/ Sheep Milk and Lanolin
- D.R. Harris Arlington
- D.R. Harris Almond

TOBS Lemon & Lime
Poraso Green (Agree that the aftershave is great too)
Stirling Soaps - I have quite a few but I really like their Lime, Bergamot Lavender and Coniferous soaps. Their aftershaves are very good too, I like adding a few drops of Texas On Fire in with my Old Spice. Their Bay Rum is quite nice.
Mama Bear makes good soaps too. I like their glycerin & EO based Lime.

As for my razor it is a 60's Super Speed and I use Astra Platinum or Derby blades

Well, I mustered up my courage last night and utilized the double edged safety razor.
I used the Lather & Wood pre-shave oil, three little squirts. I changed mugs to a wider version, and even the Williams Shave Soap now lathers nice and fully. So I used that.
The safety razor is a Perfecto, it came in a set with the brush and stand. I'm told on Badger & Blade that it's a nice introductory blade. I loaded it with a Wilkinson Sword blade, and simply worked carefully. This blade seems forgiving, as I caught myself applying too much pressure, but no real injuries.

All-in-all, a good experience.
Nivea After-Shave Balm to finish is a nice product, too. I like the classic "soap" scent of both the Williams and the Nivea.

Pressure is how the multi-blade cartridge razors work -- but that's completely wrong for the double-edge safety razor. Light passes, they tell me, and they're right. You don't have to shave all the undergrowth off in one pass.

I'm still fighting the urge to press hard, otherwise, I'm really feeling good about this.

Got an Edwin Jagger DE89L, this week, I put a Feather Stainless Steel blade in it, and I've done well with it, so far.
Proraso Red pre-shave and shave cream a couple nights ago, and the Lather&Wood pre-shave oil and sandalwood shave soap/cream last night. Three pass shave, still trying to find the best way to get BBS on my neck, but that may never happen. Quite satisfied, though. This is an enjoyable adventure.

Got an Edwin Jagger DE89L, this week, I put a Feather Stainless Steel blade in it, and I've done well with it, so far.

The EJ DE89 is a mild razor, and the Feather blade is super sharp, making for a fine combo, if it suits you. I mostly use Astra blades (middle of the road).

My standard is Haslinger soaps. I like the sandalwood, sheep's milk, and sage. Great lather and the scents are mild.

Though I keep thinking about trying a Bay Rum??
