It wasn't until my teens that I discovered a remarkably hilarious show on TVland about 5:30 am in the morning. It was the Joey Bishop Show. That was about the only thing back then that could get me up at 5:30 am...

It seems most everyone has covered all the good shows so far - but I can't believe no one here has mentioned "Remember WENN" yet, the show on American Movie Classics from '96 to '98 that took place in a fictional Pittsburg radio station in 1940/41. What a wonderful "golden era" show it was, with top-notch writing, acting, and music. Sadly, it was cancelled before its time, and AMC hasn't shown it since, nor have they made any effort to get it out on DVD. If you're unfamiliar with the show, you can read more about it here.

Also, "THE LOT"

Yes, but what I found to be better was the same ganre of AMC ...."THE LOT"...which was "Silver Screen Productions" and it was a fictional Hollywood Studio bases on actual events, and people. Well , very well, done. Excellent costumes.

AMC dropped that show too soon and should have let it ride. People were starting to catch on just before they pulled the plug. Idiots. They've ruined that channel time and time again.

AMC has lost it's sparkle.

Boy are you correct on that one! AMC used to be a class channel, with UNCUT and no commericals. Now, only TCM does this, and we DON'T get that channel unless we fork out another wad of cash for the premium cable package.

Remember WENN and the "LOT" were some classy, well done, great period costumes...

If you click on some of the links to the actors who played in those, they really were (are) great Broadway talents, film stars, T.V. show characters, singers, you name it. Professional all the way.

Now you gotta watch commercials, the films are edited, and you can't VHS your favorite Old NOIR films. Plus, the film selection is much poorer. I don't know why it is called "American Movie Classics"...should be called "Average Mediocre Crap".

I thought old Twilight Zone was the bomb and I am glad so many people think that too. I have gotten the DVDs, but there is a most annoying menu with an eyeball and an eight-note recurring theme. Still, I think that's my favorite old show. The only things I have liked in the past few years: Sopranos, Rome, Dexter, Carnivale.

I remember it in syndication when I was very, very small, my parents said one of my first words was "Whirlybirds".

It was the beginning of a life long fascination with rotary winged flight.

My first Helicopter ride at age five.

Although I was known to flip the dial over to the "educational channel" for Misterogers' Neighborhood if I got bored with the reruns. Meow meow big fan of Henrietta Pussycat meow meow.

As for evening shows, well, I absolutely lived for "Flipper." When I was in the hospital having my tonsils out, I got into a terrible fight with one of the other kids in the ward who thought "that fish show" was stupid. Some people just didn't understand.
