No problem,I didn't think anything of it.

carter said:Since you already have two pair of Black dress shoes (please show pictures), I voted for Burgundy (as in Merlot) like this Allen-Edmonds McClain in Merlot Burnished Calf (There are lots of variations in the Burgundy/Cordovan color palette)
I'd also suggest a pair in Cognac like the Florsheim Imperial Knightsbridge (just as there are many variations in the Brown/Tan color palette)
I wouldn't wear them, but then I wouldn't wear a blue suit either. Solid charcoal grey with black cap-toes for me.Mr. 'H' said:Now really, do you think anybody would deem it inappropriate to wear oxblood wingtips with a navy suit at a funeral?!
Max Flash said:Oxbloods will go, but will look less formal. If you are going to a funeral or formal church service, you would wear black. That is the English way, at any rate. Europeans (especially the Italians) have a more relaxed approach to brown shoes with suits. I would deem a navy suit to be incorrect at a formal funeral anyway - charcoal grey is correct.
As you have black shoes anyway, get oxbloods and start building your wardrobe.
HungaryTom said:Oxblood shoes would be a perfect match- those make a nice change after black shoes.
At funerals I wear all black-that event is anyhow about the emotion and not the stylin'.

Tom

cufflinkmaniac said:I actually have two pairs of black shoes (one pair of wingtips and one pair of split toes),but I suppose a third pair wouldn't hurt.
cufflinkmaniac said:My friend, you are in England and I am in North Carolina,USA where standards of dress are, shall we say, relaxed, especially the town in which I reside.Common funeral fodder here includes (but is not limited to);tank tops, ripped blue jeans, tube tops, short (barely there) shorts and skirts, and of course flip flops.Church is not much better. And I have considered charcoal gray, but as a second suit.
HungaryTom said:It is interesting to see that charcoal grey and navy are used and accepted as mourning colors - black is the accepted norm where I live. There was even a rural community which used white color only in their mourning costume.

HadleyH said:This is what I had in mind when I said dark brown shoes, something similar to this Brunori Dark Brown Italian Classic Lace-Up Dress Shoes. I still think its a very versatile color and a nice addition to the other 2 pairs of black shoes you already own.
