I have five Akubras now and three more coming plus one that I sold. All were ordered from Hatsdirect or EA. I have had good service and good communications from both places.

I've ordered a Kiandra from David Morgan, a Kiandra from Hats Direct, and a Lightning Ridge from Noggintops. All three companies are first rate.

Noggintops is presently running a sale on Akubras.

I just ordered a Stylemaster (acorn) and a Capricorn (gray) from EA. Sam went the extra mile and is getting Akubra to make the Capricorn in 62 which wasn't available before - nice service. Previously I've ordered from Noggintops (1 Akubra, a couple others too) and they're very good, and quite quick.

I ordered my Federation from Hats Direct...because there is no other source for them. The service was excellent, the shipping from Australia not that bad, and being the first item I'd ordered from outside the US, I was surprised that delivery was only a day or two longer than a continguous US vendor.

My Sydney (I think Hats Direct's name for the same hat is the Bogart) - David Morgan. It's only 45 minutes from home, and on a windy, drizzly Saturday afternoon, I was surprised to find when paying for it that the exceedingly knowledgable and friendly older gentleman helping me was Mr. Morgan himself. And I *should* have listened to his advice and gone with the Squatter...but at the time, the brim seemed outrageously huge. NOW that I'm used to a proper fedora (the above-mentioned Federation), I wish I'd gotten the Squatter.

And David Morgan's a long-time advertiser on the Lounge and Classic Style and Will Morgan's a periodic user here as well.

Hatsdirect is my favorite

I've gotten 3 hats from HatsDirect, and one from David Morgan. I don't feel like I saved any real money going from Morgan's, and the wait wasn't enough shorter that I would buy from them again. Perhaps if they had more color choices available in their Fed IV style other than brown. They were nice to do business with, but HatsDirect, especially Jenny in particular, are just super folks to spend money with. Never had to wait more than a week from Australia to Southern California, never had any mis-sized items or poor workmanship, and the one return/exchange I've done with them was smooth as can be. They've gained a customer for life, which is more than I can say for at least one popular company lots of folks around here have been disappointed with. I don't mind the fact that the change in the dollar makes Akubras less of a deal than they once were, it's worth it to me to know I can count on a good product with completely reliable customer service. Has anyone purchased an Akubra from Hat World in Sydney? http://hatworld.com.au/index.cfm?action=brand&brandid=1
Thanks,

Randy
I've never ordered from them. I've heard lots of good things about Hats Direct around here, none of which I have any reason to doubt. I've ordered 3 hats from Sam at EA. I don't think he stocks as large a selection as Hats Direct, but I've gotten really good customer service from him. We had a small mix-up on the last order, but Sam fixed it.

Akubra

I've ordered a Fed IV from Hatsdirect. Any questions I had were answered promptly and their communication was first rate. The only complaint I had was that I paid for the shipping that everyone says they had their hat in a week. Well mine took over two weeks. But the hat arrived safe and sound so I have no complaints.

There's been two hats from EA, a Capricorn and most recently a Squatter. The hats were cheaper, but the Squatter was a 3 month wait. Then again I knew that before I ordered so no big deal. The worry I had with EA was that I didn't receive any confirmation that they received my order and there was no reply to emails. But sure enough at about the 2 month mark I received an email that my hat would be shipping and in less than a week I received it.

My final new Akubra is a Sydney from David Morgan. The price is comparable once you figure shipping in. Unfortunately my usual 59 was too tight. I sent it back for a 60 and received it three days after I mailed the 59 back. Fast service, no questions asked.

The bottom line is I don't think you can go wrong with any of the three and sometimes you have to order from a different dealer to get the hat you want since they all don't carry the same product. But they're all quality outfits and I'm sure more of my money will be going to all three!

I've had several first hand experiences with HD, and love them. Just that I happened across Hat World one day and saw they have several hats that EA and HD don't stock. Thought it was worth throwing out a line here to see if there's been any experience with them.

My next order will most likely be with EA, provided the hat I settle on isn't one of the 3 moth wait ones... I'm far too impatient when it can be ordered and had quicker, even if maybe for a little more $$.

Hats Direct. Fantastic.

I ordered one new hat - from Hats Direct - and was very pleased with their communication and service.

Reading this thread, I've been searching the internet for the availability of 'Heritage' quality Akubra hats, and I was amazed to find a different list on every site. I have seen several Akubra styles that I like, but would prefer to pay the extra $40 or so for Heritage quality. Also, what's 'Superfine' quality? I see sites that say the only felt types are Heritage and Imperial, but then I see occasional references to 'Superfine'.

Just ordered a Coolabah Safari from walkaboutdownunder.com.au and the price was better than I found other places. Waiting to see how long it takes to actually receive it.

I have an Akubra Down Under I received from a grateful Australian customer I helped with a nasty computer problem and with a third party vendor local to me that remains my most treasured hat.

I ordered it from Hats by the Hundred. Unlike the good Doc Strange, I had no problems at all with them. The hat arrived in something like three weeks, and was precisely what I ordered.
