I’ll start.... so I purchased a Lost Worlds Easy Ryder from eBay the other day, the jacket looked like it had been artificially worn in some places. I decided to add some color back to it in an effort to make it more wearable for me.

I rubbed in some Kiwi Shoe polish

The jacket seemed to take the polish pretty well

I used a car polishing pad to buff the jacket out.... don’t laugh I saw on the Thedi Instagram that he uses a polishing wheel too, so I’ll give him the credit for the idea.

the results.. pretty much what I had hoped for...

Maybe a little too shiny, but I bet that will tone down with a little bit of wearing..

thats SICK! what a nice method to bring back life to a beat up jacket. I love the idea of tea core jackets (Lost Worlds is not tea core by any extent, right? what HAPPENED to that jacket) but would be sad if my black leather jacket will not be black anymore. this is a great tip.

I have two older LW jackets and they are indeed teacore, or more precisely the hides were not tumble dyed long enough to achieve 100% dye penetration.
It's not like a "teacore" where a thin top coat of black is applied to a lighter hide, it's just that the dye didn't penetrate to the central 1/3 of the hide leaving it grey in the middle.
If you go deep enough you will hit grey hide.
It's weird though cause the pullers look 100% black, whereas my pullers have a clear grey inner core.

The more recent stuff (recipy change was about 5 years ago) is tumble dyed longer and the black penetrates all the way through.

Carlos is right on, the hide has a middle layer that is un-dyed, but it is a grayish color, It isn’t the brown under layer I would expect from something called “tea-core”.
The resulting color in the areas where the black has worn off is not unpleasant but for this particular jacket it was overdone for my tastes.
I actually avoided putting polish on some areas around the hem and sleeve cuffs to keep a little “patina”

Thanks for clarifying, the distressed part in your pre-treatment photo kind of look yellowish brown which is very much like the actual real teacore (not talking about the artificially enhanced teacore of re-dying brown dyed leather black). I was beginning to wonder if that is some combination tanned leather. I guess it is the sunlight. The LW J-23 I had shows the distinct grey at the edge where the black dye rubbed off.
