El Paso has been warm for a couple of weeks so the Milan and Panamas have been out

An older gentleman once told me "felt for any month that has an 'r' in it, and straw for the months that don't. Have to trust a real old-timer.

I wear whichever hat I'm comfortable in. In the last few weeks the temperatures have varied so much from day to day, that you could wear any hat you wanted to, on any particular day. Today with winds of 25 to 35 mph and gusts to 50 mph, I'll stick with caps.

Same with port.
No Porto in June???

But I like to have a glass on my birthday!

Back on topic - If I had to wait until it hit 80F I would forget where I even kept my straws. But it somehow feels uncomfortable wearing them until at least close to Memorial Day.

Come, come, sir. In Noo Awlins? Here, you never put the straws away completely . . . and April, September, October, November, and (nowadays) December are too bloody hot for the felts anyway.

There are exceptions to every rule. I believe that it's perfectly right and proper to wear a new hat whatever the season.

Thank you, BR. On the other end of the hat vs. weather spectrum are the folks wearing wool tuques (or caps, or whatever...) around here in July. All good(?), I suppose...
