Whatto Chaps!

Popped in a few days ago and had a brief look around when I was wondering about the bottom button on suit jackets. The old 'done up / undone' conundrum. Found a thread in here to be most helpful.

I am trying to bring back a sense of style to the place where I work but all I get is people with button down collars on shirts which are undone, top buttons on shirts undone, and worst still, ties half undone and making the place look untidy!

Damn their hides the lot of 'em!

I don't know, really. Still it's a pleasure to come across a properly attired forum in this age of scruffiness.

Good show!

Regards

James

Before this gets too far

Let's don't argue about the pronunciation of "veni, vidi, vici" or Julius Caesar for that matter.
Either way, welcome aboard, Gentleman Jim.

Sincerely,
The Wolf

Welcome Jim, also that it dosen't bother me since I am oblivius to it since I spend a month in the UK and one of my best friends is British, so I do not see differnces.

Welcome, Gentleman Jim. You're obviously among people who not only have good taste, but are also intelligent. ;)

I look forward to hearing your input!

Welcome to the Lounge, good sir! E pluribus unum is about all I know of Latin.

Oh, and caveat emptor. And maybe a couple of others.

Anyway, welcome!

If we're going to be pedantic, Wodehouse always wrote it as "What ho!" not whatto.

Maybe "Whatto" is an American translation?

Whatto chaps!

Crikey Bobs! Awfully sorry and all that, seems I caused a bit of a stink with the old latin what?

My Latin is incredibilly poor (as is my English) so I tend to steal little snippets from Terry Pratchett.

Anyway, thanks for the warm welcome!

James
