Conspiracies?

Citizen Ed said:
Reading- mostly mystery and historical fiction
NFL- specificaly my Beloved Bengals
Movies- thank God for TCM and the Sundance Channel
Videogames- weekends with Son of Ed Part 2

And I'm a conspiracy buff so I troll libraries, bookstores, newspapers, the Web and peoples heads for conspiracy theories.

Here's a page you may or may not be familiar with. It's full of conspiracies! :)

This whole vintage clothes thing takes a very distant second place to my love of classic soul music. I've been buying soul records since 1970 when I bought a Marvin Gaye 45 on UK Tamla Motown: Too Busy Thining About My Baby / Wherever I Lay My Hat. Marvin was my favourite singer for a few years until I discovered the grittier soul of the southern states, and that's now what I mostly concentrate on. Stax/Volt, Fame, Ronn/Paula/Jewel, Duke/Peacock, Excello - plus hundreds of smaller independent labels. I've had a good spell on eBay just recently and have picked up the following at bargain prices:
  • Margie Evans - Good thing Queen - ICA
  • Pete Cooke - I Won't Cry - Dimension
  • The Saints - Mirror Mirror On The Wall - Revue
  • Frank Turner - All For My Kids - Maison de Soul
  • Jackie Verdell - Why Not Give Me A Chance - Peacock
  • Paul Thompson - What I Don't Know Won't Hurt Me - Volt
  • Tony Troutman - I Truly Love You - Gramophon

My wife would tell you that this isn't a hobby, it's an obsessive money-pit. She's wrong though...I hope...

I have become decidedly more lame in the past year or so, but here goes:

-Burlesque Performance / Making Burlesque Costumes and hair flowers
-Going to see my friends' bands (Sasquatch and the Sickabillys, Cobramatics, Johnny Carlevale, Darkbuster, Wrong Reasons, etc.)
-Ebaying/Antiquing/Thrifting
-Occasionally picking up my flute and playing some Mozart
-Lots and lots and lots of reading
-Driving to/from Providence to see my boyfriend
-Watching the Red Sox
-Bowling
-Cooking

Soon all of the above will be replaced by:

Studying.

If I'm not studying or at work I'm:

In the garage with feeble attempts at woodcarving (slowly getting better).

Golfing, and wondering why my ball never goes where I want it to.

Watching All the TV shows I like without commercials (My roomate downloads them)

Relishing the fact that I'm sitting in my chair on a day off doing absolutely nothing for once.

I collect regional accents and try to duplicate them, adding them to my collection.
Same thing with regional english terms or localisms.

Hey!! Where's the scottish interest? Pretty much the whole of the highland population was cleared to the States!!! :) ;) Seriously, that has got to be one of the most unique interests I've heard of - love to hear more about it. My hobbies are currently (not including the whole vintage collecting and sewing thing):

1 Yawn (there isn't a smilie for that), Law. Sad but it's my study work just now. But for fun:
2 My dogs.
3 I read a lot too and I'm a total movie addict.
4 Reinstating the old 1800s farmhouse from the 1980s refurbished version which is, and I kid you not, artexed on every single wall and ceiling in the building
4 Learning to play the piano and the violin.
5 Attempting to sample every affordable champagne on the shelf.
6 Umm, cooking, definitely. Particularly trying to develop the best homemade pizza base.

All I do anymore is take my Packard to cruise-ins and classic car shows a few months in the year and continually peruse my still-growing, huge library of books on WW 2.

Sitting..

.. .Reading mainly WW1 & WW2 non fiction in my own library.

Watching Rugby, football or cricket live or on the box. I no longer play.

Ebaying.

Dabbling in insignia.

Scouring book fairs and charity shops for books...and only very recently vintage clothes.

Castles & Battlefield walking. I'm very near Ancrum Moor, Flodden, Halidon Hill, Homildon Hill, Ford, Etal, Alnwick, Chillingham, Edinburgh with 100's more within a hours drive.

that'll do for now.

Samsa- Naw I couldn't drive it or trust it that far. There's more specialty car events in Southern California than I can get to as it is. But that WOULD be a cool thing. I could cruise by the old, empty Packard plant since it's still there too.
