Shaul-Ike, that's a really cool pipe. To bad his not a pipe smoker. But if anyone has more ideas for zeppeliner-shaped and zeppeliner inspired gifts, I'm all ears. He reall loves zeppeliners, and covets a zeppelin shaped lamp. To find something like that is a continuous quest for me.

:eek:fftopic: A flying model zeppelin would be perfect. But both my man and my father has done some calculations about that, and it's sadly not possible.

My holy grail is a 1922 Experimenter's Information Service Model L Superheterodyne radio. This huge 2 piece receiver, designed by radio engineer Charles R. Leutz, was the first commercially available superheterodyne (kit only). In advertising, it was called "The Rolls Royce of Reception".

I have given up on actually finding one and am in the process of collecting the plans and parts to build one myself. I'm almost there...I only need a few more components and a better copy of the blueprints and I can get started.

If I actually go through with this, Murphy's law should ensure that I find a real one within weeks of completing my replica...I hope!

Heh, where to start....

My wish list is pretty modest, really - I do try to keep it to things that I will realistically one day own. At the minute, that would be a wardrobe full of thirty odd vintage-repro suits, a few rockabilly style casual clothes, a bunch more hats, shoes and other accessories.....

The biggest thing for me I think, in terms of stuff I don't know that I could ever afford or at least would feel able to spend the money on if i could, would be a Gretsch 6120 (left handed, of course) - either the Brian Setzer sig model, or the Eddie Cochran one, along with a tweed Fendr 59 Bassman reissue - and maybe a few other, smaller 50s RI Fender amps to go along with it.

I actually missed the chance to buy a few blonde Fender 60s amps at excellent prices back in the 70s - as well as a few choice Gretsches and Gibson hollow bodies - this was in-between the CSN&Y years and the yet to come Setzer Revival of the 80s. Oh, well......

Just in case you hadn't tried one, pick up a Harmony amp from the late 50s-early 60s and you will have the basic tweed sound for a fraction of the price. They may need some sorting out at the local shop, and the cabs are essentially thick cardboard (watch those beer bottles!!!), but the circuitry is there, and the original speakers should be Jensen Alnicos.

I currently own two of the model H-303 pee-wees for quiet at-home use, but I once owned 3 or 4 of the bigger ones with 12" speakers (basically a clone of the Deluxe; not sure if they made a Bassman clone). Instant Eddie Cochran on the cheap!!

Sometimes the grail is not quite so holy, but nice nonetheless!

I really badly want this cocktail shaker! It's a bit difficult to see in the small photo, but all the pieces adds up to form a zeppelin! I would give it to my husband, as he would love it even more than I. And it would earn me a lifetime of delicious cocktails.....;)

Not as cool as this one (or antique) but I saw a couple of similar shakers over the holidays:

There's a Pershing Tank sitting on the north side of Montauk Highway in the Hamptons on Long Island. :D

We'll take turns steering and pushing it, and hope no one notices us on the way to PA. Deal?;)

Well, these to start
<a href="http://s67.photobucket.com/albums/h292/baznjosh/?action=view&current=boxes.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h292/baznjosh/boxes.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
Then these:
<a href="http://s67.photobucket.com/albums/h292/baznjosh/?action=view&current=sentries.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h292/baznjosh/sentries.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
Then I'd bring em home in this:
<a href="http://s67.photobucket.com/albums/h292/baznjosh/?action=view&current=800px-NSU_Kettenkrad_vr.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h292/baznjosh/800px-NSU_Kettenkrad_vr.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Oh, and I'd like World Peace and an end to Hunger and Poverty.
But only AFTER I get the top three!!;)

I would be perfectly happy with this one:

The Morgan V8

...and an original pre-war Irvin to wear while driving it.

The Morgan is easy enough - the problem is finding the pre-war Irvin in my size[huh]

An aunt has a classic late 40's MG - not the little ones, but the bigger classic roadster. She got it for her 16th birthday and has had it ever since. My uncle was in the military (she's a Brit) and moaned about having to have that car repeatedly crated and shipped along from one posting to another around the world.

Her kids HATE the car. And I told her forever that whenever she wanted to sell the car, let me know. She's a tad over 70 now and still rips around in it, but I got a letter after the holidays (in response to my card & letter to them) saying "When I die, since I have absolutely rotten children with absolutely no style and grace, and no interest nor appreciation of a finely tuned British beautiful mechanical masterpiece, the MG's yours if you want it." My response was a telegram - "Will book immediate flight to Raleigh as last breath leaves your body unless already there, weeping profusely. Have keys waiting. Will bring jaunty tweed cap and spiffing scarf!"

I've been feeling like Rhoda in Bad Seed, wondering how soon Monica's going to slip off the roof so I get the boodle...

1957 Chevrolet Nomad, bright yellow. Or I would settle for the Bel Air, 2 door hardtop, like my dad had in the 70s. I have never forgiven him for selling it! But if I was offered any car from the 50s with fins out to THERE, I'd be cool with that too.

Or a "Vanishing Point" Dodge Challenger. Something that rumbles.

I would also like the silver charm bracelet the Ironrite Company produced sometime in the 50s. It has little ironing-related charms on it, including a miniature mangle. I've seen it ONCE.
