What's your favorite Pomade?

Hey girls,

I'm looking for something to make my hair really glossy and also good for holding the shape of my hair. Any advice on what is a good pomade to use? I have been using my husbands but it's not as shiny as I would like.

Got2Be Defiant. Cheap, you can get it at CVS or Walgreens, it holds nicely and adds serious shine. As much as I want to try the Layrite, it's pricier, and I've used and loved Defiant for years.

Layrite is worth it, though. I'm not made of money either but I LOVE this product and it lasts FOREVER. It smells like cotton candy, adds perfect shine to your hair, makes it - er - Lay Right (lol), and washes out (no nasty build up). I threw away all my other hair gels and pomades when I started using this one. I'll pay $14.99 for a great product!! You only need a tiny dab so it lasts a long time.

I use Woody's. It's a bit lighter, but I really like the scent. It's sort of clean, citrusy. I've tried American Crew and Paul Mitchel's men's line pomade but they smell too manly for me.

I always say -- makeup and hair products are very personal items. Stuff like this mostly comes about from trial and error (unfortunately!)

Got2be cream pomade. Its the only kind that will work with my thick corse hair. Not glossy. However there is a hair spray that will give glossyness. Aussies sun touched hairspray.

Just bought something called "retro vinyl" by Beyond the Zone at Sally's...going to give it a shot. I did order some Layrite, though...will take a while and needed something for tonight. Will let you all know how it works out.

Tried Hawleywoods and wasn't too impressed...and it was on the expensive side. Going to try Woody's next. Thanks girls

can annyone suggest any organic pomades? I would really really really like to start using one, but since I dont use anything that isnt organic I would really like to find one that has good shine!

I like retro vinyl. Nice shine and it helps control my flyaways. I almost always use hairspray for serious hold, so I haven't tested it's holding power.

Hawleywood's Layrite I agree. It takes time to learn how to use the product. I learned by using a hair dryer it helps to soften the pomade and makes it much easier to use. And since it is water soluble it holds like a wax, yet washes out like a gell, firm hold yet not stiff and flakey. Even the next day all I have to do to restyle my hair is run my comb under hot tap water and comb through.

I just got a sample of Lush's Dirty hair styling cream, it works really good! good hold, has good shine, smells amazing!! and washes out easy (I do the "no poo" method so trust me it washes out easy )
