Hi everyone, just thought I'd pose this question as I think back to some missed opportunities.

What's the one that got away? Is there a grail jacket, that you had the opportunity to buy (or maybe you actually did buy) but you missed out by taking to long to make a decision (or regretfully sold)?

I'll start: I've only been into leather jackets for a little over a year so no "grail" has slipped by yet. However, last year I watched this one for half a year when I was looking for a brown premium centre zip jacket in shinki. This one wasn't shinki so I never pulled the trigger, despite it being 1000AUD (~650USD). It's my biggest regret I've had so far in this hobby.

Nice jacket with nice price. However, there will be many of this type that will show up.
My regret was not buying a 1947 size 46 HD cycle king in pristine condition. The price was 3.5k. I rather donate the money to a good cause then spending it on a jacket.

I figured that too but it was a premium brand (The Few) at a price and pattern I haven't seen since it sold 3 months ago. I particularly liked the lack of chest pocket, action back and the style choice for the "half belt" area.

I'm unfamiliar with the pricing and rarity of pristine cycle kings, let alone one in a size that fits. How long ago was that? I'm guessing you haven't seen one of the same condition since?

The cycle king from Harley was a jacket that was produced from the late 40s to early 50s. The ladies version was in production until the Mid 70s.
The jacket I mentioned was about 20 years ago and was being sold at a fancy place in Los Angeles. Vanson and other companies have reproduced it several times at a premium. The latest production is being made by Vanson at around 1k delivered.

My brother went to Japan some 10 odd years ago, and wound up picking up an RMC AN-J-3A

When he got back to the states he had some buyers remorse, and wound up giving the jacket to me, telling me it was a gift.

Some years later he confessed that his intention wasn’t to gift me the jacket, but the combo of guilt about spending so much on himself, and seeing how much I loved it, he decided to give it to me.

After hearing this, I couldn’t keep it, and wound up gifting it back to him.

Fit me like a glove, and set off my love from Japanese repro brands, as it was my first experience with The Real McCoy.

Still hoping RMC does this model again soon. Definitely prefer it over the G1.

This Langlitz off Grailed.....

I watched it for weeks...agonized over it....

The price was high...

I finally justified it for myself.....went hit the buy button.

....and it was gone....

The wife tried to console me and tell me "it just wasn't meant to be....a better one will come along"....

I still cry in my beer about it.
