What's something modern you won't miss when it becomes obsolete?

I could do without all these Southern retirees who move up here and act like they're trapped in a polar wasteland when the temperature goes below 50 degrees. Quit yer whining and buy a damn coat. And no, you can't come inside to buy your ticket, you stand out there on the sidewalk like real Mainers do.

If you find yourself confronted by one of these people - back away calmly but quickly. They are obviosly mentally deranged. No sane person raised in the sunny south would willingly move to the cusp of the arctic like that. There's no telling what other irrational act they might commit.

When I retire I'm moving down to Mexico. Soleado y calido, si.

Bah, I hate these weather wimps. It isn't "cold" until the weather drops below freezing.

hell, -30*f is just a bit chilly here in Vermont.

Now -30*F with a 25mph wind = a windchill of -64*F which is cold.

But I have been in windchill ranges of -70 to -80 which is freezing.

Now I know why I don't miss the Army.....my brain finally thawed out and I came to my senses!

Now that is talking cold!
I cannot understand people griping about cold weather when it's 40-50 degrees out. :eusa_doh:

Heh, as I get older I find that I do not tolerate the cold weather as well as I used too. All my old injuries wake up and I can barely move and the places my bones have been pinned back together are just plain miserable.

And for southerners - snow isn't pretty when you have 5+ feet of that crap outside your door.

Around here, it's the northerners who are the biggest cold-weather whimps. Middle of December, 60 degrees, finally long sleeve weather, and they're walking around in Arctic parkas, wool hats and gloves, blowing into their hands...really?...we can finally turn the A/C off and open a window, and they're all wanting to huddle together like they're plane wrecked in the Andes.

Mixing injuries and cold weather is no joking matter. Anyone in that group is allowed to gripe!

Dude!!! Snow isn't pretty when you have .5 inches of the stuff.
As far as aches and pains coming on with the cold, I'm with you there. Construction work does a number on you after a while. All I can say is that it'll quit hurting one day, but I'm not going to get in a hurry to get to that point.
