What's on your keychain?

Now that I have a keyless entry thingy for my car, I use that in place of a proper keychain fob. But for the last few years, I had a nice Batman logo keychain from the old WB Store. Before that, for at least a decade, I had a keychain with a pewter "drawing" of a 1947 Packard.

My dad has always had one of these on his keychain! Every time I see one (which is admittedly not often), it brings back memories of using that thing when we'd go camping during my childhood.

Uh, WHAT is that thing?

Here's a pic of my keychain, taken with my camera phone which HAS to be the WORST camera attached to a phone ever.

I absolutely hate having keys in my pocket so I carry only my car's ignition key on a ring with the keyfob to unlock the car doors. If I know I will be carrying keys all day I will sometimes carry just the key or keyfob.

On a side note, I once had a quirky university professor that didn't use a key ring, but carried around at least 20 keys in his pocket! He always said that if he used a key ring and lost one key they would all be lost. We each have our own logic, I guess.

Fourth is all the keys I no longer have any use for, including this old key from my paternal grandfather's home. It was for inside doors.

I have one of those too, exactly! Was from my grandfather's house in Cleveland. That key literally saved my life.
I was living with someone for a time that,...shall I say did not have his act together exactly. He left windows open in the summer, so one day the house was robbed. It was an old house that still had skeleton key locks on the closets. I always locked up valuables like my art portfolio, check book, cameras, etc. in that closet. Good thing I did, because the punks could not open it. They had to break the door, but only succeeded in breaking the top part out,as it was a heavy wood door, so they could not reach down in and grab my valuables. :eusa_clap

I, too, hate carrying keys in my pocket. That's one reason I prefer driving older cars: none of those huge plastic ends to clog things up, which means I can carry them in a key wallet. When I need to carry them, they're in the back pocket.

Keys to the asylum. No telling how old the big skeleton key is - I've had it assigned to me for almost 30 years.

One of the occassional hazards of travelling in outback Australia is the danger of hitting a large kangaroo  which apart from causing considerable car damage results in one dead animal. My key chain warns of this: "Kangaroos Next 10km". (I know, I know  ...).
I travel light and therefore have only two keys in it. :)

Ahh, I need to declutter my keys.

I use a carabeener (sp?!) to keep everything together. It's nifty for clipping onto my purse handles, belt loops, etc. when I don't have an extra hand or room in my bag. The ignition on my car was really screwed up a while back, but the locksmith at the car repair center wasn't in when I got it fixed, so I have three different car keys. I also have three keys for my apartment (door and gates, I really just need two!) and a key to the front door of my parents' house. I have Hollywood Movies and BORDERS cards. I also have an adorable piggy flashlight -- you press the button and he lights up and oinks! Finally, I have nifty little gadget for assault situations. You pull the string and it flashes and emits an eardrum-blasting siren. I really don't trust myself with pepper spray in an actual attack situation...I've heard waaay too many horror stories in Karate.

I'm not quite sure anymore...

This is horrible to admit, but I'm not completely sure where my keys are. I havn't seen them in almost 5 months. I couldn't find mine one morning and grabbed my husband's off the rack (heck he wasn't using them). I've been using his ever since. The only thing on his (other than keys) is an engraved rectangle with an EGA on one side that says Semper Fidelis on the front and engraved on the back is "Freedom is Never Free". I'm getting a little uneasy about where mine might be, I'm not sure what I'm going to do when he comes home in the fall. I'd hate to have to admit to him I lost my keys 6 months earlier and never really did anything about it.
If I were to find them though, there would be a J with my name spelled out inside of it, my keys (of course) and a few other key chains I think....geez it's been long enough that I can't remember....not good.

Maybe I should look for those tomorrow.

P-38

I second the P-38 recommendation. They are good for opening cans, turning the occasional screw, stripping wire ends, and opening boxes and envelopes. I can get them onto plans with no hassle, and since there is a small blade on them, it lessens the feeling of loss I have by not being able to carry a pocket knife.

I've given away about half a dozen of them and have never had mine poke me any worse than the rest of my keys. I'm always experiementing to see what else I can do with it.
