Brunch again. Was going to have my leftovers from yesterday, but I could tell it was going to be one of those days...so I had cheesy garlic bread instead!

I channeled my inner FF and had a Krispy Kreme Lemon hand pie. yum!

Now something else I have to go out and find. While the closest KK is not close, some nearby stores have a KK "section -" I could see the lemon pie (which I've never had and now must) being in one of those. Great, I can now add walking to a bunch of stores to find a KK lemon pie to my agenda today / over the weekend - it's a good thing my dad died before he saw the man I became.

That is exactly it! And I do get it at the grocer. The actual Krispy Kreme just sells donuts. Speaking of which, have you seen where they have a new donut? It's an original glazed (with the hole) filled with either vanilla or chocolate kreme. While it sounds tasty in theory, I can't see how it will work. The original is only excellent when it is hot, and I don't see a filled donut being served that way. I may or may not give it a try. Haven't decided yet.

I have not had that one as the actual KK store is not close and, worse, is inside Penn Station (the world worst train station which replaced the world's most incredible one) - so I rarely get there. I have had filled donuts with a hole. It works, but the non-hole version is better as it can hold more filling - the raison d'être of the filled donut.

As you know, I work from home and I manage / trade money for a living. Wouldn't my clients be happy to know that my goal is to find an opening in the trading day this morning to run out to look for a KK lemon pie - who in their right mind would trust their money to that guy!

Were you able to squeeze in some hunting time today, FF? Hope you were able to find one! They are sweet, but they are good! I think I've mentioned before that I have a KK withing walking distance of my house. It's only about three or four blocks away. We don't frequent it that often though :)

I decided to act like a professional and stayed at my post all day - the markets have been pretty volatile of late. But my goal this weekend is to go on a hunt. Regarding how close KK is to your house and your infrequent visits - that happens a lot as, once you know a place is close by, it becomes less special as you know you can always go there.

While I do like a good donut, I've really got to be in the mood for one.

The kids stayed with me last night, so we got up and went to Jack's for sausage biscuits this morning.

Oh yum!!!!

Haven't had any breakfast yet, but I'm thinking a piece of Key Lime Pie. Maybe not. Only a little hungry this morning.

Okay, after trying several stores yesterday (I did a hard search) - and learning that Krispy Kreme makes a bunch of non-donut and donut stuff it sells in packages in grocery / convenience stores - I never found the glazed lemon pie, but I did find the cherry version. This one ⇩

My first surprise when I opened it was that the pie in the box wasn't wrapped in anything (a plastic envelope or something); it was just sitting loose inside the cardboard box. The box appeared to be very securely factory sealed, but this is how it slid out of the box:

⇧ That's odd - no?

And the inside ⇩

As to taste, it's respectable for a store-bought boxed item - sweet but decent cherry flavor and the glaze kinda works.

It's comparable to the old Drake's pies that used to come in the wax sleeves (usually from a vending machine) that I had as a kid back in the '70s and, then, that were a major part of my diet all through college.
You know, this thing ⇩

I've see those before, but never tried it. I'm a little wary of chocolate pudding type things such as this. They always have a metallic taste to me.
