I realise that these threads are mainly about vintage headwear but just thought I would show what some youngsters wear today. This has to be the most ridiculous hat I have ever seen:censored:

Now, though we love our vintage and often reproductions of vintage wear, those with children often find they do not share our enthusiasm for these things and we cannot make them. But seriously what would you think if your kids wore this?
Dope obviously means drugs, but for those unaware, here in the UK this translates as stupid. A bit like those T shirts that read "I'm with stupid", but instead of the index finger pointing to your friend, it may as well point upwards.

Here Dope can also mean cool. It could also mean drugs or stupid also. I'm o.k. with caps but the prices of the caps in your pics are outrageous.

If you think that's bad, apparently there's this new trend called "athliesure". *yucky* http://www.npr.org/2015/04/08/397138654/for-the-modern-man-the-sweatpant-moves-out-of-the-gym

I once had to defend myself from one of these bums in a Facebook thread because he thought I had the gall to call out this ridiculousness while wearing a fedora. I told him that, unlike sweatpants, hats have been fashionable for centuries, and that wearing sweatpants outside ones home is like wearing pajamas outside of the house. Personally, I feel uncomfortable wearing any kind of pants that doesn't have a zipper outside my house.

"baseball" caps.

Let the "youths" enjoy their folly... What i am so fckn (xcuse me!) absolutely SO TOTALLY sick of... is all theses MEN (not boys) MEN! 25 to 75+ years old wearing (on the street) ALL these types of caps in general... advertising sports teams, bar/restaurants etc etc. As a matter of fact any kind of these "baseball" type caps with logos or advertising... IM SICK OF THEM ALL! Thank you for letting me rant. :)

It just gets easier to look well dressed. No competition. If you don't look like a wino on a bender or a kid on his way to the playground you are a man of distinction.

Here in China, you will find that people often wear surprising and random things. Since most of the world's t-shirts & ball caps are made here, some funny things leak out of the factory and onto the street. So I remember the old man wearing a ball cap that was designed for a "Polar Express" movie promotion, who was selling fruit on a streetcorner in the July heat. Or the grandmother I saw sporting a hat with a flourescent orange marijuana leaf and the word "Blunt" in purple medieval-style lettering. And since English on something makes it cool, there are lots of hats and shirts that feature letters arranged to look like words, but are actually gibberish. Slogans like "Dclm VbrTed!" are pretty common.

These are, to me, the worse kind of hats and the worse way to wear a hat. They look like their mother bought their hat and put it on their head. AND they wear them inside and in the middle of summer at the beach. No wonder women are taking over the world with "men" looking like that ;-)

I'm sure there are plenty of people who think I'm an idiot for wearing a vintage fedora on my head.

I really don't care what anyone else wears. Most people I come across are nice guys n gals regardless of their clothing preference.

Dude, nobody has called drugs "dope" since like the 80's.

Agreed, I seriously doubt some kid is wearing that hat with the purpose of advertising his use or support of illegal narcotics, in the "street" terminology of today "dope" means good/cool/fly etc, that being said, most of what young kids wear these days is awful.

In Japan, every summer people wear clothes with a strong mock Jamaica theme- the flag of Jamaica prints, Bob Marley's face, and marijuana leaf prints. I've been here 15 years, it's a 'look' that never seems to go out of fashion. You see old people, children, teachers emblazoned with the marijuana leaf print. Anybody I've ever asked told me it was the Japanese Maple leaf. I think they've never seen marijuana.

The Playboy bunny logo is also popularly ripped off here. It's very strange to see the elementary schoolgirls who have been decked out in Playboy logos by their mothers.

Some people are just clueless, I guess.

Still VERY MUCH better (and cooler looking) than those (xcuse me) FCKN baseball caps!

Those wooly hats that have just been plonked on the head, was a trend started by the boy Beckham. When I commented on that to my wife, she said that in the sixties, in our youth, we all did something similar. Well if it had style I did, flamboyant even, but when The Beatles were seen in suits without lapels, no thank you.

One thing that does puzzle me though, where do the kids get those rear facing peaked caps? I've never seen them in shops, online or anywhere.
