As an interesting experiment, I have a hat for sale on eBay right now.
...and I have the original price tag from sometime in the 1960's!

So...since that hat is in essentially new condition, we'll see exactly what it translate to in today's dollars.
By the calculator, guessing the year 1964 (my birth year)...
$9.95 comes out to $76.16 today...

Very interesting, however no matter what the price "was" and compared to what our purse or wallet has to today, if all of us purchased all the hats we "coveted" we would be as broke as ever! You can note for your own personal financial history, I bet at least once you had your wallet or purse commit mutiny! Haha!

My vintage 1960 Resistol came with a price tag of $20 = $160 today, but I doubt you could find anywhere near the quality 100% beaver hat today at that price. ($11 on ebay) View attachment 54862
The Resistol thin ribbons are so super nice. I keep my looking for them in sizes we here would wear and am darn sorry we ever sold any of them off. For the normal 3x level vintage, resistol has most other hats beat!
