I spent the evening of December 31st 1999 all alone, painting the foyer in my new house a strange canned-pumpkin color. And then I moved into the kitchen and painted the faux-wood-panel wainscoting a pleasant shade of seafoam green.

It was very cold that night, and I had all the windows closed, so all the paint fumes built up and by 11:59 pm, I fear that I was feeling quite exhilirated. Who says you can't have a party all by yourself?

I spent the evening of December 31, 1999, on the roof of a highrise apartment building in Santiago, Chile, watching fireworks from different sections of the city. Since December is summertime in Chile, the evening was balmy. We (about 20 people) brought up bottles of champagne and toasted each other.

For the record, I was in a brewpub in Warrenville (a suburb of Chicago), breaking in the new year and not the least bit worried about the Y2K hysteria. I remember my mother calling me before I went out, and told me to watch out for traffic, and to keep things in moderation. She didn't mention a thing about Y2K. If it doesn't bother Mum, then it shouldn't bother me.

BOSTON! LETS GO PATRIOTS!!!
I was at a bar called Trinity in Fanuel Hall in Boston with my very good friend Shely. We were annebriated, dancing to a band that sounded good after about five drinks, with a group of dashing young men. It was a wonderful evening that ended the next afternoon with a good brunch with a few friends, and the dashing young men we were dancing with at 11:59........hmmm, those were the days....

My dad and I were in the hospital with my mom who was on life support at the time. We were terrified over that Y2K thing. The hospital brought in extra staff in case the machines went kaput. I also spent half the night arguing with my then fiancee over some type of foolishness I don't quite remember.

I was in church with my fam and most of the community. There was a service going on, but I was looking up at the lights to see if they were gonna flicker.
No flicker at all, I was upset.
