No idea. All I know is I heard from my prof in around 1975.

Re SHIELD, am I the only one disappointed that this season ended without the finale impact from Infinity War shown affecting the team? Sure, they are already down a couple of regular characters, but I expected at least one to be blown away.

Both Gotham and SHIELD have 13-ep final seasons coming up, probably both starting mid-season rather than the fall.

Was very disappointed with SHIELD this season as it has been one of the most consistently written shows I've seen in recent years and the continuity in past seasons (upon rewatching a few eps last year)(AND FORESHADOWING) was a thing of beauty. Would have been disappointed had this been the final finale seeing as how I was left so confused by some of the conversations at the end. And why did Daisy step down again? (Haven't seen Infinity War yet, always wait for rental, so, no spoilers, even though I already pretty much know what happened.)

Doubt that. More the fact that I got sick of Gordon's angst and then reading that Harley Quinn would never be on the show. That pretty much sealed it for me.
I agree that "Gotham" has gotten completely out of hand. I liked it a lot for the first two seasons, and maybe a bit more, but the addition of the weird-cult-people and the Obi-Wan-Kanobi guy in the hooded robe are totally beyond me. There are/were numerous other inexplicable events and characters, but the last straw was when Butch floated down the river and magically turned into the Incredible Hulk. What!!??
I still watched it (or at least looked at the screen) after that, but quit trying to actually follow any plot that may still be there.

What? LOL! That happened? Last thing I remember seeing was Butch getting shot in the head and not dying. And Obi Wan suddenly kissing the un-dead Barbara(?) I think? Plus, why wasn't she dead? Ugh. I hated her. Yeah, couldn't take it after that. I can't watch anything without a plot or women that are objects but I'm not a man, so...

As for Butch, it was pretty close to that, except for being a lighter shade of green... Then he was put back to normal by B.D. Wong (with the rose-colored glasses) and then killed (maybe??).
I think Barbara gave everybody the creeps, even back in the first few episodes when she was "normal".
When it first started and the main characters were Gordon, his cop-partner, The Penguin, Fish Mooney, Alfred, and the Godfather-guy it was a pretty good show, but it later went way off the tracks.
Sounds like you jumped to safety before the main crash occurred...

I like Timeless. It is not quite a great show, but it has an appealing cast, good production values, and is sometimes as clever as it thinks it is. The series was retooled a bit in the second season, but it's not really an improvement.

But I like it enough that I hope it gets another season. Last time I checked it wasn't yet renewed OR canceled.

I'm coming to the end of the first season (all there is on UK Netflix so far), and it's perfectly respectable. It's not one I'd rush to buy on DVD, but I'll certainly keep watching on Netflix.

Ya'll seem to have more and better shows on your Netflix. Ours are poorly produced and pretty low budget except for the "Netflix originals" which they save all their money for. Ugh. Watch it very sparingly, if at all.

Speaking of budget, it's obvious Timeless got less of one in season 2, but they still made it work.

Having now seen the last few minutes of the season 2 finale on demand (which I had missed previously due to golf running late, as mentioned above), I REALLY hope that NBC renews Timeless, or if not, that another channel picks it up. It's excellent: smart and emotional, and it ends with a REALLY intriguing tease for another potential season.

It's even more obvious that SHIELD had a reduced budget. One of my complaints with the show from the start was that it seemed like most of it that wasn't on the Bus/Zephyr/old SHIELD HQ from Agent Carter took place in boring, nondescript factories, warehouses, and pathetic backlot sets (*). Having BOTH halves of this season play out on the ugly Lighthouse complex sets was even lower-rent than usual.

(* Its backlot "foreign countries" are nearly the same as on Mission: Impossible back in the sixties, where every police/military force wore the same Sam Browne belt uniforms with different markings and the utility trucks said "GAZ" or "VOLTA".)

The restoration of an MGA on Wheeler Dealers. I usually give this so called show a miss, the presenter is one of those types that irritate me. But seeing as the car in question was an MGA, I gave it a go. They did a very good restoration, although I would have preferred that the dashboard be replaced, like for like, rather than the cheaper option of leather. Just my personal choice. Here's a snippet on YouTube. There are lots of links for you to see the before and after, as well as the work done.

Loved the references between SHIELD to Agent Carter. Wish they would have let fans know that Sousa was the husband. Oh well. Really got sick of the Lighthouse set. And Kasius? Kasaus? Whatever. I was bored until Fitz showed up with Hunter.

(Never would have known this. Very interesting info. Thanks. Nothing in storytelling, or tv is original. Even wardrobe.)

The Americans. penultimate episode. I almost wish this had been the finale. It could have been. It's difficult to properly finish off a series, and I don't trust them with it. Those endings are sticky wickets. Such a good episode. Here's to them not screwing it up.

Me too... a fantastic episode, just enthralling. The precision with which plot points that have been hanging since the very beginning are piling up shows some remarkable long-run planning and writing. Fantastic acting all around. And I do trust them to come up with a worthy (if imperfect) conclusion next week.

There have been plenty of great shows over the years I've loved that had remarkable runs of episodes, arcs, seasons, finales... But nothing like this. The slow but constant forward momentum, relentless plot logic, continually improving performances, deepening of the feelings and characters... has all been breathtaking.

It's been a real privilege to be a fan of The Americans, and as great as it must be as a binge-watch, I'm really glad to have watched it unfold slowly over years. Bless FX for realizing what they had in this show, and keeping it going despite the lack of viewers and awards!

I watched Westworld Season 2 episode 4 Riddle of the Sphinx. I’m really enjoying this series on HBO. Great cast and stories in multiple timelines. My favorite clip from episode 4 “death is always true”. Anti-hero Ed Harris as the Man in Black delivers justice to robots that have taken over a town in the park. A resurrected soldier/robot is forcing a woman to make her husband drink a shot glass of nitroglycerin.

What a great hat Ed Harris wears. It’s perfect for his character.

I finished Season one last night, enjoyed it very much. The way it has had lead characters switching allegiances and played with changing our view of other characters has been superb. I would definitely like to see more. It started out fun enough, but I tihkn the quality of the writing really picked up as it went along.

Ah, the MGA.... more expensive and rarer than the B, but ultimately a much nicer motor imo (even if the B is arguably mechanically superior). If ever I had the scratch to run a car, I'd be very tempted by the bubble-top coupe version - assuming I could actually find one, of course.

If it's coming to an end, now might be the time for me to watch it.... especially if it hits Netflix. These days, I seem to see most things once they're done, then I box-set it.

I'm working my way through the miniseries Troy: Fall of a City on Netflix. It's not very good, but I am a lifelong sucker for this stuff.

It's too long (do I even have to mention this?, it's Netflix!) and obviously low-budget, with questionable costumes and hairstyles, way too modern dialog and concerns, and the acting ranges from meh to lame. But if you want a Trojan War telling with a black Achilles, where he and Patroclus and Briseis have a gauzy romantic three-way, here you go.
