Becoming Warren Buffet and Taboo

Really enjoyed both.

First, Stephen Graham and now, Tom Hollander; two of my more liked actors.
The cast keeps getting better. As does the show.

The Big Bang Theory. They finally explain why penny and Lenard are together! Penny forces Lenard to see a female Psychiatrist, so she can sell some drugs to her, instead she psychoanalysis him. Lenard as we know desperately want's the approval of his mother, a strong women who withholds approval, to make him do what she wants! Penny, just wants to be Daddy's little slugger again. Dad wants her to marry Lenard, so she does. As for Penny and the high paying job, haven't any of you been to a Dr. office lately? There is always some beautiful women toting the drug sample suitcase out of the office!

 

[Fading Fast]

The last episode of "Breathless," the UK "Mad Men" rip-off - doctors not ad execs, hospital not Sterling Cooper, but about the same time period and the same dysfunctional, angsty lives - that made it for all of six episodes, but was pretty darn good as a copy cat show.

Unfortunately, my super girlfriend and I seem to have been the only two people in the world who watched it, so, apparently, an audience of two is too small to make it economical to continue making episodes.

And to our UK friends, the lead character's early '60s Alvis convertible (a car I had never heard of before) is killer - absolutely stunning - and his wife's turquoise-and-white Zodiac station wagon is cute as all heck.

He invented the high powered electric motor that took the subway, from the London underground steam trains from Dante's Inferno, to the clean running trains of today. Unfortunately, Edison bought him out, then proceeded to erase him from history!

"Man in the High Castle" episode 8, season 2.

What can you say, the story is strong, the sets and period details are stronger and the acting is better than both.

• The Japanese Trade Minister is an incredibly talented actor as he appears as natural in his "alternate-universe" persona as he does as the trade minister
• John Smith's head game with Heydrich was ridiculously well done - Sewell has to win some kind of award for this role
• Davalos also deserves one as Juliana Crain as her "demure, scared" persona as "guest" of the Smith's is spot on as is her reticent but determined resistance fighter one.
• The shots of Berlin after a German victory are frighteningly impressive - Speer (Hitlers "large scale" Greater Germania architect on steroids) vision being realize

Went out to dinner tonight with the Patriots down 28-3. I was hoping that a nice dinner might ease my pain. A great meal of beef and broccoli, pork fried rice, shrimp toast, orange chicken, and a couple of Fogcutters. I left happy. I turned the television on when we got home to see the Lombardi trophy moving through...what? Those are Patriot players! Woo hoo! Sure wish I had seen that phenomenal comeback, but that was a really nice meal.

Well, that game played out exactly as I thought it would. Who didn't expect the Pats to be down 25 points deep in the third and then pull out an OT victory - what the heck, that was truly, amazingly crazy.

While I still root for teams, I don't have the passion I did as a kid as the money, the free agency, the players regularly switching teams, the teams leaving cities, etc., diminished my passion for "my" teams. That said, I still enjoy the games, the skill and the "you never know when" chance of a completely wow moment (Odell Beckham Jr's one-hand TD catch) or, as happened here, wow game.

If you passionately hate the Pats or love the Falcons, I understand how unfun it was for you. But for me, for someone who isn't that vested in any team, the pure spectacle of an incredible comeback / the greatness of Brady made it enjoyable as I just love seeing the best of the best of the best at almost anything. I just love seeing a wow moment.

A number of episodes of The Mary Tyler Moore Show, 1970-1977. Good stuff, especially in the later years, when they gave us funnier lines and some alterations and growth in the main characters like Ted Baxter and Lou Grant.
