Great Planes: Super Guppy. The ugliest plane ever, first built in the 60s as a highly modified Boeing 377, it still has many of the original parts on it. No hydraulic boost on the controls and no auto pilot, a real pilots airplane!

Re the Patriots. That game showed that the old saw good teams find a way to win even when they don't play well and its reverse, bad teams always find a way to lose, are "old saws" for a reason. The Patriots did not play well, but never, ever count Brady out in the 4th quarter and the Jets just couldn't make the few key defensive plays they needed to.

I never thought I'd ever see a better late-in-the-game quarterback than Joe Montana, but I'd take Brady over him. I sometimes think you could put Brady and one receiver on the field late in the fourth quarter and they'd still score.

Episodes 3 and 4 of "The Crown."

Outstanding show. I don't know enough inside-baseball history on the English Monarchy to know how accurate the family dynamic and political intrigue details are, but as story telling, it's first-rate engaging. Also, the sets, clothes, cars, architecture (the architecture is one piece of eye candy after another) are all beautiful time travel.

The episode on the London Fog of '52 was particularly good TV: gripping, drew you in, had you rooting for certain characters and left you a bit exhausted in a good way when it was all over.

If he is not first, Montana is a close second. A difficult call to make, but I think that I agree. Montana was surrounded with more talent on both sides of the ball.

They both had that "I'll will this team to score" mindset. Both are the definition of leadership - everyone in that huddle believes they will score because Brady / Montana is there and they all play to their best (or past their best) because of it.

What's funny is neither Brady nor Montana has the pure passing skills of the best quarterbacks - Marino or Elway would beat either in a distance, accuracy competition - but when it's all on the line, B and M were the best at willing their teams to late-game wins.

A 1959 episode of Robert Culp's Western series Trackdown. An exciting tale of a "sanctuary" town, in which outlaws are permitted to walk around free on payment of a $10/month "head tax" to the sheriff (who is doing this not out of cupidity, but so he can provide a good life and education to his daughter!). It features Richard Jaeckel, who apparently played villains a lot in his early days, and Paul Brinegar, whom Rawhide fans know as Wishbone, the trail drive cook.

Well, there was hydraulic boost on the rudder control, and the 377 had an auto pilot, simply nothing comparable to what's done today. The aircraft had an altitude hold and was stabilized on level flight. When the A/P was engaged, you could adjust the nose up/down attitude, and make it do coordinate turns by simply turning a big lever on the central console left or right.

Puddin' watched the show IPad in hand. She's learned more about history in the last 2 plus years than her entire life. She now fact checks EVERYTHING which can be a bit bothersome sometimes.

I have to admit it, I'm a bit like your wife - I was Googling "The London Fog" this morning to fact check the episode.

The show is really well done. You might watch to catch up with her on episodes, so that you guys can enjoy it together.

Westworld. I like the characters. I don't really care for where they've taken the story. It's told well enough etc, but I'm not excited about it at all. I can see it getting a second season (already renewed) because of the huge investment HBO made, but if this makes it to a third season, I think I'd be surprised.

Divorce. I say it every week, and I'm saying it again: Thomas Haden Church is awesome in the role and funny as hell.

I don't know about putting Elway up there with Marino. He knew how to win, but it took him quite some time (seasons) before he acquired the consistency of a Marino, P. Manning, Fouts, Moon, Favre, or J. Kelly. From the start, he was an incredible athlete who could stink up a game for three quarters before finding a groove and destroying his opponents in the fourth to eke out a comeback win. His numbers were rarely pretty for the bulk of his career. As an AFC West fan, he was a player to hate (as much as the 49ers). And yet he was respected for the fear he brought anytime he had the ball.
