The Curse of the Jade Scorpion - I thought it was definitely better than its reviews/reputation ("one of his worst"), though not exactly first-class Woody Allen. Beautiful 1940 production design too.

Not a movie, but an American Masters show from PBS in 1999. "Ella, Something to Live For" , five minutes into the program hearing and seeing Ella Fitzgerald sing I turned to my husband and said "I have to buy this DVD."

Another winner for Pixar/Disney! :D Bonus? Carl looks remarkably like Spencer Tracy.

"The painted veil" (2006) - such a beautiful film.

Here Here very beautiful movie and some great performances. Wasnt sure I would like it when I first saw it but thought it was excellent. Reminds me of Andy Garcia's Lost City, great costuming, beautiful cinematography and a quiet but well told story.

Big Night

Great movie
Stanley Tucci, Tony Shaloub (a great actor) Minnie Driver, Ian Holm, Isabella Rosellini (hubba hubba), and even a young Liev Shrieber and some beautiful cadillacs. Plus some of the clothes are great and the music is fun and damn but I get hungry everytime I watch this one. They even make simple eggs with bread look great.

I watched the movie "Defiance" the other night starring Daniel Craig.
It was very good and was a true story. The extra features on the DVD also includes interviews with family members of the main characters. There are many interesting stories and stories of what happened after the war.
It was very good, I suggest you check it out if you haven't seen it!

"Au Hasard Balthazar" (1966) by Robert Bresson. The most beautiful and moving film about a donkey ever made.

Really.

You'll need the large size box of tissues for the end of this film. Even watching the special documentary feature which shows bits of the films ending I needed the tissues.
