I was all into this film, thought I blinked and missed something, Yeah it threw me off, until the end, killing off the good guy without seeing him get hit, then his wife? B.S.!!!

Agreed, Feraud. We watched it yesterday and "horrible" is a kind review! I am glad we didn't bother seeing it in the theater.

Well, apparently, it was faithful to the book, which ended that way (reminded me of the weird way American Psycho ended - in both the book and the film).

While that might be fine for the book - and I stress "might" - I find it unacceptable and highly anti-climactic in film form. If when making a film from a great book they can change things around and omit "unnecessary" parts (see The Lord of the Rings) to fit better into a movie format, they can make better endings (see The Mist).

I havent watched it and i am not really in the hurry to.

I remember the remake for the War of the worlds with Tom Cruise as a typical modern remake let down.

I dont want see the original story butchered.

You can safely change "not in a hurry to" to "no interest at all".
The best way to describe this film is... bland.

The Lost City directed starring Andy Garcia with Bill Murray and Dustin Hoffman. Set in 1958 Havana about a Nightclub owner, his family and the Castro revolution. Great music, clothing, hats and locations and a damn fine story. I highly recommend it.

"Professional Sweetheart", a 1933 RKO programmer I've been wanting to see for years because it's set in radio. It's Ginger Rogers' first film for RKO, and it feels much much more like a Warners movie, both in the tone of the script and in the supporting cast: it looks like when Rogers came over from Warner, she brought half their their contract players with her. One of the best groups of character actors you'll ever see in a single film: Frank McHugh, Zasu Pitts, Allen Jenkins, Franklin Pangborn, Lucien Littlefield, and Edgar Kennedy, all in one show, and all playing exactly the roles you'd expect them to play.

I wonder where Ned Sparks was that day?

Just got back from the Stanford Theater in PA, CA...

We all saw "King Kong" with Fay Wray and "Tarzan the Ape Man" with Johnny Weismuller. Both made in the 30s. Special effects have sure come a looong way since then!
