What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

Hubby and I are making our way through "Lonesome Dove" again. His pick. Not my speed of show, so I'm getting plenty of crocheting done while it is on - making lace around a handkerchief for my niece's wedding this summer.

It rained almost all day yesterday, so we stayed in and watched old dark house chillers. Most from poverty row and Mascot Pictures. Today it's "Branded a Coward" (1935) with Johnny Mack Brown.

Started watching "They Drive by Night" but ended up finishing "Roman Holiday" with my better half. We started watching it a few weeks ago but didn't get to finish it. What a great ending. He will never see her again.

I enjoyed it quite a bit when I saw it for the first time last year, but it's definitely more of a "George Raft" movie than a "Humphrey Bogart" movie.

I agree.
This is probably one of the last movies Bogart made before he became a star. I read in
the movie reviews (IMDB) that it was known that Bogart and Raft were not getting along
during the making of this film, but they were both professionals and hid it very well. This
is not a "Bogey" film, but the trucks & road sequences are great. The market square and
produce scenes are typical of how they used to be when I was very young.

I thought he was Bogart at the beginning until Bogart's character woke up. He was sleeping on the passenger side. Raft even sounds like him.

Man am I glad I recorded "They Drive by Night," as I'd be bumming hear all these neat things about it if I had passed it up which I almost did as our DVR space is getting pretty close to full. I'll report back after I've watched it.
