"Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy" a fine job of direction from the director of "Let the Right One In", the best Swedish vampire movie you'll ever see.

We had our annual visit last night from the Paragon Ragtime Orchestra, specialists in detailed recreation of the silent moviegoing experience. This year, they performed scores to three great two-reel comedy shorts, Keaton's "The Playhouse," Lloyd's "Never Weaken," and Chaplin's "The Adventurer," which it was my privilege to project for them. As always when the Paragons appear, there wasn't an empty seat in the house.

They play next in Brownsville, Texas, so if you're in that area run, don't walk, to get your tickets. And tell Rick that Lizzie sent you!

Ocean's Eleven (the recent one)

I had not seen either one and enjoyed both movies. I'll try to find the Sinatra version of Ocean's Eleven and give it a spin.

Watched several over the last weekend. The one I really liked was "Inception"
I'm becoming quite the DiCaprio fan inspite of myself.

Half Shot at Sunrise. 1930.
Wheeler and Woolsey's second feature film. It was great fun. I thought Dorothy Lee was really good.

The 'Burbs. Classic Tom Hanks.

"Carol, can Ray come out? Please?"

"No! Not until he resembles the man I married."

"We don't have that kind of time!"

"We Need to Talk About Kevin" - Wow talk about a kick in the gut. A bit to artsy fartsy in the begining, I could see it losing some folks but when it gets rolling, it gets rolling. How Ms. Swinton didn't win the Oscar I'll never know. My 19 year old knucklehead watched it and ran from the room a couple of times. Also in light of what happened this weekend in Colorado... couldn't be more timely.

Dark Knight Rises - outstanding. I will say no more as to avoid spoilers.

Today's cinema trip also involved the latest Spiderman. I didn't like the kid at first - not geeky enough for pre-Spidey Parker - but it grew on me. Quite a radical reworking of the Spiderman story, but it really does work. Rhys Ifans is a stand-out as the Lizard, and the whole supporting cast (especially Uncle Ben) are great.

I'm going to have to see both of them. Spiderman especially, as my 5 y/o nephew and his friends considers me the ultimate authority on all things Spiderman and I will be expected to brief them. But to be honest, I'm enough of a geek to see anything Batman- or Spiderman-related anyway!

I'm jealous Edward. We tried to see the DKR today but all shows were sold out. We cannot go tomorrow because my son is working all day. It might be a week before we see it!
