The Glass Key (Paramount, 1942), based on the Hammett novel, with Brian Donlevy, Veronica Lake, Alan Ladd, Joseph Calleia, and the ever-present William Bendix. Not my favorite Ladd-Lake pairing, but still enjoyable, and with a great psycho performance by Bendix.

Yeah, I always get a kick out of that, too. I also find it amusing that Phyllis' house is supposed to be on Los Feliz Blvd, since no part of Los Feliz is on that type of hill (looks more like Pasadena). Have you ever listened to either the Lux Radio Theater or Lady Esther radio versions? In the former, Joseph Conrad plays Keyes. Both are pretty good.

WB, do you mean Joseph Cotten? Conrad was never able to develop a distinct radio voice, stuck as he was writing for a living...
