What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

Last night I sat and watched '10 Rillington Place'.
The film was made in 1971 and starred Richard Attenborough (as John Reginald Halliday Christie), a very youthful John Hurt (as Timothy Evans) and Judy Geeson (as his wife, Beryl). Superb performances by all the actors really cement the film together.
The film itself was actually filmed in the same street Christie lived and murdered 8 women. No.7 being used as the cameras needed access to both sides of the front door. No.10 was hard up against a brick wall, and also the 3 remaining families refused to move out for filming! Straight after the filming had ended, the Council demolished the street.
If you can get a copy of the film, I thoroughly recommend watching it. :)

Here is a Wiki link to explain all about the Christie murders for those that don't know.

My mum loves that movie. It sends shivers down my spine every time I watch it.

Knowing about Christie's crimes from the movie got me in good with one of my professors in college, when I brought up Timothy Evans as one of the most tragic cases of wrongful conviction.

Tales From Earthsea, directed by Hayao Miyazaki's son Goro.

Alas, from an animation and storytelling perspective, he's nowhere near the master that his father is!

And as an adapation of Ursula Le Guin's wonderful Earthsea books (primarily the third and fourth novels, The Farthest Shore and Tehanu, with some plot points dragged in from the two earlier ones), it was terrible. Not as bad as the godawful live-action Legend of Earthsea miniseries from a few years ago - it did envision some aspects of Earthsea correctly - but the story made no sense if you were unfamiliar with the characters. Like the earlier adaptation, it just came at the story all wrong, and missed most of what makes the Earthsea books (especially the initial trilogy) such an intelligent and compelling fantasy classic.

Not recommended. Read A Wizard of Earthsea instead, it's much more rewarding!

With the Mr. last night: watched the tail end of the second Thin Man film, and the first part of the third one in the series.

I suggested to him that after we finish the TM series, that we watch all 10 of the Fred and Ginger films. He said why not watch all of Fred Astaire's films.

Thin man movies are fun! One thing that always comes to mind when I think of those flicks is that...nearly every scene with Nick and Nora...they always have a drink in their hand. Lol!

So, I was thinking about it, and I actually watched Gran Torino with Clint Eastwood last, not Lara Croft. Hopefully, tonight I will have time to re-watch The Brothers Bloom. Excellent movie...
