I've always wondered why John Forsythe wasn't a bigger star.

I had it in my head that James Garner was in TTWH (I haven't seen it since I was a child) but have to confess when I saw John Forsyth in it I didn't recognise him (although his voice is unmistakable) - some people seem to look the same all their lives and just get older - he looked so different as a young man.....

Maybe it's because you came upon him late in his career in Dynasty where we in the States have been seeing him for years and years......

Also when you see a person regularly the effect of aging is not as marked as when you only see them once a decade.

That's true - I remember his distinctive voice from Charlie's Angels but the only real time I saw him was as Blake Carrington.....

It's the town next to Santa Ynez where Neverland is and on the other side of the mountain from Santa Barbara

Solvang - Ablerskiver and polsor (Danish Hot Dogs) If you look at the first post or two in the Loungers Pets thread there is a picture of Max from a visit to Solvang with Mom. (My Mom was from Denmark.)

Also there is a funny episode of Visiting with Huell Howser where they go to Solvang and Huell mispronounces every Scandinavian word thrown at him. Ablerskivers become Abel-skivers.

Just saw Hanna. Good in parts but overall rather unsatisfactory I thought. One of those movies where the director seems to get so carried away with making pretty pictures on the screen he forgets about the plot from time to time

Kung Fu Panda 2. Funny in parts, but oddly the audience didn't laugh all that much. Youngest Hood liked it a lot and made us watch 'til the end of the credits. Says he wants the soundtrack. Does anyone else think the overhead shot of the dragon "eating" the various characters was a tip of the lid to Pac-Man?

I've been going to town with old films lately, I bought D.O.A. and High Sierra. DOA was the last film i watched, but i'm looking forward to High Sierra next. Before that i saw The Moon which was a very impressive film from 2009. I didn't expect the actor to be nearly as convincing as he was (ive seen him in other lighter roles) and despite being low budget, it certainly doesn't look that way from either the effects, storyline, or acting. Brilliant movie, good to see that every now and then even today some movies are made right.

"The Sting", a 1973 multiple award-winning classic with Robert Redford and Paul Newman. Liked it a lot, especially the soundtrack with a lot of Scott Joplin Rags.

Went to the theater Friday night with hubby and watched Thor. Great fun!

I loved Thor too. I actually went a second time and dragged my college-age kids.

I wish it had been a little longer: there was plenty more stuff to explain, and the character development was very rushed. But the casting, effects, design work, and script (which managed to deftly balance drama and comedy, fantasy and science) were very good. And Chris Hemsworth was perfect casting, on the order of Christopher Reeve or Hugh Jackman!

They got it so much more right that I was expecting. My complaints were minor, and not necessarily defensible so much as what *I*, as a Marvel fan gong back to the early 70s, wanted to see (e.g., the Asgardians speaking in more full-blown bogus Shakespearean dialect.)
