Yeah, I agree. It had a very different character from most world war two movies....
I always thought that Steve McQueen's use of a grease gun was a nice touch in "Hell is for Heroes". For cinematic purposes they are a bit different from the usual Thompsons that everyone carried, and in real life they were a lot better than their reputation would indicate.
Godzilla (2014) - I enjoyed this one much, much better than the Matthew Brodrick enviro-sermon version.

Great film, I caught half of it on TCM the other day.
Everytime I see sequence where they attempt to roast the Thing I'm amazed they didn't kill everyone in the room! The literally tossed buckets of gasoline around the room!!
John Carpenter's The Thing is a rare example of a great remake.
