Well, I'm sure Fred's gonna try and do take the subject matter (ahem) seriously as opposed to "Undercover Brother", "Ah'm Gonna Git You Sucka!" and "Black Dynamite". So it might be interesting to see just how he pulls it off. Man you NEVER cease to amaze me!!!!

I hope so.
Given the cast, I see one of three possibilities.
First, despite the cast Williamson DOES go for the Black Dynamite angle, disappointing those who's career could benefit from a renewed interest in the genre.
Second, the movie is a critical success but not understood by the younger audience who expect the first possibility.
Third, it's a box office hit, which I'd LOVE to see for all involved, but isn't very likely without a lot of advertising.
If it's more Truck Turner and Trouble Man, than Willie Dynamite and Blackenstein (or Petey Wheatstraw), then the movie will kick ass.
Given the listing of the character names already on IMDB, I don't see names such as Pickle, Fireplug, Doodlebug (Cleopatra Jones) or
Cream corn (Black Dynamite). So that's a plus. :eusa_clap

Top Gear UK. All James May, so, informative, and very boring!
Funny, I thought it was interesting, and one of the better specials. Captain Slow's narrative can be somewhat unexciting, but at least he has the ability to form an opinion of a car based solely on it's own merits. If Jezza or Hamster had hosted that special, it would have been filled with sanctimonious insults and far fewer actual facts.

Yeah, yeah, I know this is the wrong thread, but until one of the bartenders moves Stearman's post I have to address it here. [huh]

In keeping with the car theme, tomorrow night I'll be watching Weekend of A Champion.
Produced by Polanski in 1973(?), and based on interviews and highlights from Jackie Stewart's racing career, especially focusing on the Formula 1 sport at that time. Captain slow he is not.

"Turn Back the Clock" drv'd from TCM awhile back. It is basically a version of "Sliding Doors" where a man gets to go back in time and marry a different woman, plus he retains the knowledge he had of what is now his future.

The premise is that he believes he married the wrong woman because they live a life of modest financial means and he believes had he married the other woman he was interested in - who was rich and connected - he would be rich today. While you can probably guess how it turns out, I won't spoil it if you want to see it.

The movie itself feels dated at times and not at others; regardless, it is only modestly interesting as a movie, but more interesting as a very early (I'd say first, but I'm sure some silent film somewhere gave somebody the chance to live life over again) version of a much used premise in movies - getting a do-over on life.

"Son of Batman" - This animated feature's premise is that Talia, daughter of Raish Al Guhl (sp) head of the "League of Shadows" slipped Bats a Mickey Finn one night and... welp 9 years or so later he finds out he has a son. I won't spoil it but needless to say sonny boy is a LOT more blood thirsty than his Daddy and more tech savvy as well. Decent, animations NOT as glorious as BTAS and tends to look a little too anime for my tastes but I've seen worse.

Warm Bodies. It was actually a decent flick---nothing I would have spent money on but free on cable was fine. :p
A zombie that retains his humanity and then becomes human again. He drags a few friends along as well with his example.
I haven't seen too many "new" horrors, in fact the last one we watched was Let Me In from a few years ago.
It was produced by a restarted Hammer Films, and was actually a good movie.
A bit bloody for me, but a nice story.

Sky Captain. Kinda cool if taken in context. That is, as a late 30's comic book made into a movie, I guess. The visuals were rather cool, especially the technology depicted. The over-exposed and blurred highlights all throughout the film were rather distracting though. As in a potentially cool visual effect that was overdone and as such went awry.
I TOTALLY loved the retro styled art deco car they drove in that one scene, and I MUST have one! :p

Cheesy 80s low budget sci-fi film. It has a cyborg, time travel, a mad scientist, a quest for revenge, jungles, young Denise Crosby, a little floating robot, a ne'er do well boat captain, inept lackeys, suddenly a ninja appears, more revenge, cavemen, bad acting all the way through....

I love this movie!

I just watched this again last weekend. You can have the car, give me the P-40 of the Gods. I find the film reminds me of a game/flight sim called "Crimson Skies" from back in the day. The cars/planes/tech. I could've done without the female lead but I thought Jude Law did a decent job as a Pulp Fiction hero. I also thought the idea of using Sir Lawrence Olivier's ghost as the villain was masterful. Not the worst I've seen.
