"Laura" - Caught this on "The Essentials" and recorded it. Great movie! An enduring testament to the gumption and guts of its Producer/Director Otto Preminger. He fought Zanuck tooth and nail to get this thing made. All the originally intended cast dropped out or passed on what they considered a "B" "who done it". Original Director quit/fired but Preminger wouldn't give up. Dana Andrews, Gene Tierney and Vincent Price turn in great performances but it's movie neophyte Clifton Webb who steals the show. Catch it if you can!

It is one of those movies that you can really get into. You are really routing for Clifton by the end.

That's a great flick. And don't forget the contribution of David Raskin's great score, which somehow helps to convince that a detective could fall in love with a painted portrait.

Last night I got through The Eiger Sanction starring Clint Eastwood. George Kennedy, Jack Cassidy, Brenda Venus's breasts, and the stunning background scenery and photography make the film worth watching. Otherwise, it's a mess.

"Spione" or "Spys" - A - I'd never seen this Fritz Lang masterpiece before but I'm glad I did. As good as any Bond thriller and amazingly ahead of it's time in dealing with Spy Rings, espionage, hidden lairs, evil masterminds... et al. This movie could've been made in the 60's and you wouldn't have to change a thing cept add some sound and color. One of the greatest opening sequences I've EVER seen in a movie. Just flat out amazing

The Newton Boys (1998) Fun in its own way. They must've spent a bundle on the 20's-era clothes. Some of the fedoras had brims the size of safari hats. Couldn't stop thinking of Men in Black as I watched Vince D'Onofrio.

I enjoy it more each time I watch it. The nuances in several of the characters take multiple viewings to appreciate. This one deserves its classic status.

It's going to take the wife and I more than the allotted time to get through this movie, because I keep backing up the scenes where Bruce beats someone silly.
The speed with which he struck people (hitting and kicking) is phenomenal, but the wife and I already knew this.
Absolutely amazing....

Yeah he was crazy, wasn't he? One of my old school friends was obsessed with Lee and was the inspiration for getting heavily into karate. One of the local television stations (before it became a Fox affiliate, yuck) used to broadcast all sorts of obscure martial arts and monster movies during the wee hours and on weekend mornings.
