This weekend i watched:

Bitter Springs - A british film made in Australia in the 1950s. Set in 1900, it's about the conflict between the aborigine population and white farmers as the farming population grows and need land for expansion. It's effectively a western with the settlers going out into the unknown surrounded by the native population. The noticable thing is that the audience is led to have sympathy with the aborigines against the white man. It's of particular interest since Chips Rafferty (probably Australia's biggest star of that period) plays the lead but is by no means meant to be a heoic figure. Not a great film but an interesting one.

The Magic Bow - A late 1940s film about the life of the legendary violinist Nicolo Paganini. I'm amazed that anyone thought it was a good idea to make a film about him and more amazed that I found myself watching it. That said, it was quite good fun.

Earth vs. The Flying Saucers. Ray Harryhausen had a budget of four thousand three hundred 1956 dollars for the razzle dazzle. A great deal of money-saving stock footage beefs up the running time.
There were several shots of bombers or fighter jets crashing or bursting into flames: if you watch a lot of History Channel and Military Channel as I do, you would recognize these shots from documentaries and what not, and you would know those crashes involved the deaths of actual people. It was sort of crummy knowing that terrible deaths were exploited for entertainment.

Waterworld. I actually like this movie along with The Postman.
Don't feel ashamed of your forbidden movie preferences. I really like "Hudson Hawk" and I'm not supposed to, lol
