Deep, and I thought "The Taste of Honey" was deep. I love British Cinema of that era. It tackled things America wouldn't breathe on!!! Only Tennesee Williams in America was scandalizing the public to that manner.

There were at least three films (that I can think of) that confronted the issue of race relations in the late 1950s/early 1960s: Winds of Change, Flame in the Streets and Sapphire.

'Flame in the Streets' stars John Mills as a trade union leader who promotes and supports race relations. However, he has to confront his personal prejudices (rather than his political principles) when his daughter announces her intention to marry a coloured man.

'Sapphire' is about a pale skinned West Indian who moves among white society without people realising her origins. The film covers what happens once her identity is discovered.

They may not be the best films ever made but at least they tackle difficult topics.

"Le Harve" - B - A wonderfully filmed and delightfull French movie. I needed something heart-warming tonight. I even forgave the Hollywood ending. It was a rental so no backstory... I'd love to know how many of the characters were denizens of that neighborhood.

Lost Horizon - Ronald Colman and Jane Wyatt with a big cast including 2 great character actors Thomas Mitchell and Edward Everett Horton.

I watched the version put out in the 1970s that included some still shots instead of actual moving picture in a few places. Kind of a strange anti-war movie. I can see where some people even argued it was a little bit pro-socialism.

Beautiful movie and from what I understand it was way over budget.

Pitch Perfect

If you hate Glee, you will like this movie. Yeah, its about group singing but it so deliciously cynical and does not take itself seriously. It was fun and hosted some very funny young female comedic talent.

"Cyrano De Bergerac" - Ferrer earned every bit of that Oscar. Masterfull performance all around. Funny how I git dust in my eyes every time I watch it. Curious.
