A double bill of Raiders of the Lost Ark and Chico & Rita at The Lost Picture Show cinema tent at The Glastonbury Festival. Fantastic night! It had been years since I'd seen Raiders on the big screen (in high definition too), and the first time I'd ever seen Chico & Rita.

I just finished watching "Freaks" [Todd Browning 1931]. For what it's worth, I'm not trying to be weird or 'artsy-fartsy' here. I discovered this movie years ago in a club in NY and liked it because it was so bizarre. The truth is that this is a great movie...great in its dealing with unselfish love, and great in its dealing with humanity itself.

That's one of my all time favorites. The 'Freaks' in the movie wanted it made, it's very unique.

I keep trying to watch The Brylcreem Boys. It's not holding my interest. Giving up.

Murder Over New York (1940) with Sidney Toler as Charlie Chan and Sen Yung as number two son, Jimmy Chan. No inclusion of the Charlie Chan name in the title. Kane Richmond, who would go on to play Spy Smasher, and Robert Lowery, who would star in 1949's Batman and Robin serial have prominent roles here. Very remarkable is the unbilled (as nearly as I can discern) appearance of Shemp Howard in a police line-up. The Chan series was probably on its decline around this time, but fun none-the-less.

Just watched "Public Enemies". Lots of hats and lots of tommy guns. I like Johnny Depp's work and he did a fine job in this film but I wasn't particularly enamoured with the film itself.

Last night I watched 'Monster' (2003). A true story about a female mass murderer. I watched it to see Charlize Theron's Oscar-winning performance. Otherwise it's a pretty darned depressing film. The night before I watched her in 'North Country.' Talk about a versitile actress!

If you want depressing, Watch "The Road", boy is that brutal. But Viggo Mortenson is great!
