Christopher Walken is one of those actors that make me want to see a movie, even against my better judgement, just because he's in it.

remember "Pennies From Heaven"?

he does "Let's Misbehave" while stripping and tapdancing. suit and hat content.

***probably not safe for work, lewd content***

We're starting "Doubt" tomorrow -- the fourth Hoffman picture we've had in the last six months. We're running that thru the weekend, and then a week's run for "Revolutionary Road," so I guess I'm going to actually pay attention during at least one or two of these shows!

I love movies where people question their faith. I think it is the most human subject that can be placed in film.

I have a rather, well, lets just say robust appreciation for Hoffman. I love him.

Its a very quiet film, and you can tell its based off a play. A lot of static shots and scenes incased in one location. Its fantastic in what it does not say, until well after you know.

And the young boy in question, the actor is just beautiful. These forlorn looks he gives in the film are fantastic. He looks like a Disney character with his huge brown eyes.

I was lucky enough to spend a day with him right before he won the Academy Award. He was just a wonderful guy, very down to earth (and his mom's great too!).

To keep this on topic, I've seen Doubt the play but not the movie. I'm interested in Streep's interpretaton vs Cherry Jones'.

"Hardcore" (1979) George C. Scott, Peter Boyle and remember Season Hubley?
Good movie and George C. Scott never disappoints. The opening credits roll to a pretty good rendition of "Precious Memories" setting the tone for the whole film.

I saw Revolutionary Road this afternoon, Kate and Leo were good together, I thought- and I loved the period clothing and especially the crowd scenes with ALL the men wearing hats.

just watched "Zack and Miri (Make A Porno)".

probably the quirkiest love story ever. but pretty standard Kevin Smith movie. some incredible characters, but it never really comes together as a whole.

and earlier today was "The Gay Divorce´" on TCM.

Did you like it? I thought Daniel Day-Lewis did a fantastic job, as he usually does.

Tonight I re-watched "The Escapist" (2008) starring Brian Cox, at first I wasn't sure wtf was going on and was drowsing off here and there. re watching most tonight I found it to be a remarkable movie. Great soundtrack and lots of hints that I didn't pick up on the first time . Recommended.

I did like it and he was excellent, though his accent was a little strange. He didn't sound how I think a person from Fond du Lac would sound. I did some research on the film and he based his voice on John Huston.

The movie made me tense. Part of it, I think was the soundtrack. That repetitious sound (cello maybe) at various parts. I don't want to write any spoilers, so I won't describe the scenes.

Two and a half hours could have been edited down a little.

Did like that hat he wore during a lot of the film. lol

Sweet Bird of Youth (1962)

Pretty harrowing rendition of Williams' play, with a semi-happy ending tacked on (the real ending was unfilmable in 1962).

You almost believe Paul Newman when he says he's going to hit it big in pictures - then you remember he's not actually playing Paul Newman. Ed Begley Sr. and Geraldine Page are on hand from the Broadway run, both highly effective.
