Hi All! I had to look up mine. According to the site I found, it was Diana Ross' "Do You Know Where You're Going To?"

Number one song in the US the last week of December, 1946 was "Ole Buttermilk Sky", written by Hoagy Carmichael and Jack Brooks, performed by Kay Kyser. Rock'n'Roll was UNHEARD of back when I was born! Yes, I'm slightly older than dirt.

Well, the Boswell Sisters did record a song titled "Rock and Roll" in 1933 -- but it wasn't quite the same thing!

Me too. Thanks to this thread I looked it up. Never heard of it before but it is called "The Poor People of Paris". I always wondered how they name instrumentals. I have heard the tune before. Don't think too much of it though.

At the Hop was #1 on the pop charts.
Raunchy (the Ernie Freeman version) was #1 on the R&B charts.

There were three versions of Raunchy released in 1957 (I think Freeman's version was the, uh, raunchiest); all of them charted.

Also, NBC Radio aired the last episode of X Minus One on my birthday :(

I thought I'd do my parents' for chances of better music.

Dad: Pop - Frankie Avalon - "Why"
Country - Marty Robbins - "El Paso"

Mom: Pop - Rolling Stones - "I Can't Get No Satisfaction"
Country - Buck Owens- "Before You Go"

Personally, I think my dad was much luckier than my mom as far as music lol
