What "Style" do you WISH you could pull off, but know you can't?

Body type is definitely a huge advantage in pulling off just about any style. TartuWolf and Mr Proper look great because long lean body shapes flatter the jacket proportions. As you move towards a Fred Flintstones look where the torso is as wide as it is tall things begin to look unbalanced. Armholes are too close to the hem, pockets are too far east and west from each other. Sleeves and arms look too short.
You always see a size small model in catalogs. It highlights the products proportions. Order the same thing in an extra large and it is no longer the stunning article in the catalog. Then you find it on EBay or the classifieds. And the search continues to find the perfect body type garment match.

Yes, they come round every so often. On a barrel shape like me, though, they look ridiculous. Fine if I was playing Humpty Dumpty, but....

I have both LL Bean and Sorel.
Like the Sorel better. The heel and sole is a lot more durable. LL Bean no longer stands behind the boots. You used to be able to trade the worn out boots in for a new free pair every year. Not anymore. View attachment 671699

ah I don't know the answer of this, I wear the style I want to wear, I know styles I can't pull off and those I don't want to wear, I'm very honest to myself. if anything perhaps shades, because I have prescribed lenses from short sighted eyes so I can't wear just any shades, maybe also long coat it looks great where the weather allows in my reality it is impossible to wear, I also love chunky turtleneck sweater but I can't wear it more often because of the climate .

"I won"... it's a nice idea and... considering the fates of many friends and family from back in the day, my continued existence is a hard earned victory. However, as a father the game's still in play, if you know what I mean. You always worry when you're a mom or dad.

Late 18th century French court suits. I’m serious. I absolutely love them. They just went all out with no regard for cost or convenience and I respect that immensely. So colourful, creative and flamboyant. The patterns, embroidery and other details are mesmerizing. But they’re not exactly common and a single one would cost as much as a new car.

Even if I owned one, it would just be too inconvenient for me to ever consider wearing. At least without plenty of dedicated staff to help me get ready and maintain them.

They existed for one reason; to display opulence and to distinguish the wearer from the lower classes who could not hope to afford even a cheap imitation. In that sense they do their job as well today as they did then. There is just something so ironically honest and blunt about that.

It's not so much a style of clothing that I wanted when I had my first role as manager, what I really wanted was "The Look!" At school, the head teacher, he was still the headmaster back in my day, he had "The Look." Those who were unfortunate enough to be standing in front of him, doing their utmost to keep the contents of their bowel where it was and all the time wishing that they were somewhere else. That's what "The Look" can do to you.

That man had a stare of pure napalm, he didn't have to say anything, he just peered over the rim of his glasses and the recalcitrant would quake. It was something that I always admired and remembered. Then, one day, I found out that I had cracked it. A couple of my deputy managers and myself were all giving the warehouse staff a hand to meet a deadline. One of my drivers, oblivious to my presence, uttered: "I f***ing hate it when he stares at me over his glasses."

Looking away with a knowing smile, I said a silent thank you to that headmaster. All the academic teaching and the study, that all faded into insignificance, I had "The Look" I can make others sh*t their pants without uttering a word.
