I guess I'm confused as to the difference between rouge and blush. Could someone explain it to me?
I don't know this, either. Hope someone will answer!

I use a variety of cheek colour things, haha, but the ones I use most often are these Maybelline "Dream Mousse" ones. They're cream, sort of a whipped cream. I put them on with my fingers and I have "peach satin" & "soft plum". I have NARS Orgasm that's a powder I'll use pretty regularly in the summer, and a MAC one I like fairly well that's sort of a mauve shade. OH! Where. I put it on the apples of my cheeks, barely light on the cheekbones sometimes.

I've never had the courage to put on a red cheek colour, but I'd like to try it out.

I look very pale and corpselike without blusher. I use Bourjois Rose Ambre, which smells like old ladies and has apparently been around since the 40s! Which isn't why I use it, but is nice to know.

I bought a couple of Boujois blushers and find them terribley sparkly! I do love there product thought... is this shade more matte than some of the others?
I have to say I love Boujois lipstick because they smell SO NICE and last for ages on!

I'm using a cheap NYC blusher in central park pink shade at the moment, it great and only like £4! It brilliant as its light enough to build up the shade to how you like it.
I also like the revlon matte blushers... :)

I use the Bourjois blusher in Rose Ambre too, I really like the colour and it seems to have lasted well, but it is a little shimmery.
I've seen the NYC cosmetics in the stores, so I might pick one of those up to try! Thanks for the tip, Maisie! :)

Rouge or blush? - Blush.

What brand, shade? - It is quite cheap, but I have found the best colour for my skin tone is 723A Pink Cheek Glow by N.Y.C.. It is a mixture of several pink tones and I find it looks more natural than most other blushes I have tried.

When do you apply it? -I am very pale, but I only tend to bother with blush if I am going out. I apply it after foundation and powder. Then after I use my powder brush to go back over my cheeks.

How do you apply it? -Angled blush brush.

Where do you apply it? -Apples of my cheeks.

I've been using Rimmel Soft Cream Blush in Cocoa Kiss, and the same pot has lasted me umpteen years. I used to put it just underneath the cheekbones but have found it suits me much more to use it on the apples of my cheeks. Always applied after foundation and loose powder, and with fingers. I used to use Indian Earth applied with a brush, until I realised how, um, eighties it seemed to look.

I'd love to try Besame's Sun Kissed, as the colour looks very similar (and the gorgeous packaging doesn't hurt...).

Do any of you ladies have a review of the above?

I use Tangee Rouge. It changes colour to become perfect for your skintone. I have a fair skin tone, and it turns to a lovely rosey/raspberry shade. I love it! I use a blusher brush, and apply it to the apples of my cheeks after I have applied my foundation and powder.

The way I've always thought of it was, blush is usually a powder, and rouge usually a cream. I've asked my 83 year old mother and she confirmed it. I think the terms are interchangeable really.

(PS - my mothers rouge is very bright and heavy. You only need the tiniest of amounts and then you have to blend like crazy.)

Anyone else use the Tangee Rouge? How about the lipstick? I tried another brand of color change lipstick once and it turned my lips Mercuriochrome color

. I just wonder if it looks great on everyone before I go spend money. (The blush and lipstick are 9.99 each now at Vermont Country store)

Hmm, I just use a little dab of lipstick. I usually rub it onto my finger straight from the tube and blend it, then pat my powder on over that. It's a great way to use up all those reds that were just an "off" shade.

I just got MAC Fleur power and a PRO shade called salsarose. They are perfect for my sister who is a Bright Spring colour type. The Fleur power looks just liek her natural blush and the salsa rose is a tiny bit stronger forevening. They are both peachy pink shades. i'd definatly recomend them.

Also- if you are a fan of MACs creamblush then it's time to stock up as they are discontinuing the current formula and replaceing it with another formula supposed to be similar to cream colour bases (which I hate as they feel all plasticy and waxy to me). I'd recomend posey (a pink) and lady blush (a peachy pink) and i also got Hunger (a limited edition deep red)

What rouge do you use?

Do you use rouge or blush? Blush
What brand/shade? Peach, preferably matte. LH blush that came in the Olive kit. Looks ugly in the pan, but gorgeous once applied.
When do you apply it? After everything else
How do you apply it? Brush
Where do you apply it on your face? Cheekbones

I love peach blush but I'm hoping to find one that comes on its own and is matte.
If anyone has any recommendations, please let me know.

I use MAC blush in Gingerly, I am pale but tend to blush naturally at the drop of a hat so it took me a while to find a colour that would help me to not look so "corpse-like" but which wouldn't clash or make me look sunburnt if I did happen to blush. I apply it after I've applied the rest of my makeup so that I can tell exactly how much I need and I find that helps to stop me from overdoing it. If I have access to a brush I'll use one, otherwise I use my fingers and I apply it to the apples of my cheeks and then just blend it back slightly towards my hairline.

Do you use rouge or blush? Blush
What brand/shade? Rimmel Rose Pink
When do you apply it? (Before concealer? After face powder?) After face powder
How do you apply it? (Brush? Fingers?) Bamboo handle powder brush
Where do you apply it on your face? (Cheekbones? Apples of cheeks?) Apples of my cheeks, a tiny bit on my nose and chin.

I'm very fair skinned, and this blush makes me look rosy cheeked without looking clownish. A little goes a long way for me.

Do you use rouge or blush?
Cream Rouge
What brand/shade? Maybelline Dream Touch Blush 06 for daily use, sometimes MAC Cremeblend in Posey for photoshoots since the Maybelline has too much shimmer for the camera.
When do you apply it? After concealer, before powder (I don't use foundation).
How do you apply it? Fingertips
Where do you apply it on your face? Apples of cheeks, blended up and out along the cheekbone (according to the advice for the square face here).

I really like the Dream Touch Blush on the cheekbones because of its shimmer/highlighter effect although I'm not quite sure how period correct that is for a fourties face. Does anyone know?
