What leather conditioner do you use?

Huh! Tonypaj, Sloan, thank you very, very much! Very reasonable shipping cost, for a change. I'll get the 32oz one.

Well, that pretty much settles that.

Does Pecards adds shine to the jacket? One that I need it for could use some of that...

A couple of coats will bring up the grain a treat and give it a good shine, but don't over do it or the damn thing will never dry out. I usually apply it in with my fingers, that way I can control how much I'm putting on.

Good old Ko Cho Line. Blatent shilling here haha, I have used it for 30 years with no adverse results. This is used on horse tack and saddlery so if it protects against horse sweat and saliva it must be good, well I have never had any problems with using it on my original WWII jackets.
And its cheaper than the much promoted Pecards, which is probably good stuff, though I probably dont have enough years left in me to do a side by side(in years) comparison:p

I first used Leatherique 10 years ago on my old Mercedes interior. I have never used anything that comes close. Rejuvinator is amazing for dry leather.

Pecard on the way. I'm actually looking forward to trying it out, for whatever reason...

The jackets I need it for aren't in such a bad shape, just could use little conditioning but... Do I really have to wait for a couple of days after applying the thing?

I've used Obenauf's on my boots and I've found that unless you have a toothbrush or something to get in the fine areas (I use my fingers only) it will kind of clump up and dry hard where it doesn't get thinned down.

Yeah, just to let it dry in.

I use Pecards on work boots, gloves and jackets (when they really need it). I'm not keen on using it on my FQHH Aeros as I don't think they really need anything, and look nicer really beaten up! My 15 year old steerhide Aero A2 has been treated with the stuff that Aero sent with it, I think it was called 'Gliptone' or something like that? It was getting pretty dry and that stuff was great, not greasy at all.

Louis, man, those are nice! And I too would like to see photos of a 15 years old Aero steer. Thinking about going with the cow for my next jacket.

I'll post some up pics when I get home. It's an A2 so probably a lighter leather than used on the 'utility' jackets, but it's lovely stuff, lots of character.

I've always used Renapur. It's cost-effective ,odourless and has saved quite a few dried-out pairs of shoes, jackets, etc.

Another vote for Renapur ..... If it's in really poor nick Ka Cho Line ........ If it just needs a light condition jefferies leather balm ( fat based) or Belvoir.

Pecards is distillate based and I'm always a little wary of petroleum based products on leather based on feedback from a number of experts in the field .... It also leaves things a little greasy IMHO

I hear you but a number of experts including the Smithsonian leather curators swear by it. Remember it is ph balanced so it presents no risks. Also if it leaves the jacket greasy your using too much. :D Animal based or "fats and natural oils" can be equally problematic on leather as they can have a rancid, corrosive effect. Natural isn't always better.
