The difference between fedora and trilby is ill-defined at best. They could even be two names for the same thing. In general, though, I think of trilbies as smaller-proportioned fedoras with a sharp, and I mean SHARP, upward brim curl in the back. I mean almost perpedicular to the ground.

What it looks like you've got there is a stingy-brim fedora with a good amount of taper.

On the money.

A sable (?) stingy brim fedora (2" brim at most, eh?) w/ a complimentary deeper brown bound brim w/ a matching, conventional & traditional grossgrain ribbon & bow treatment, with polychrome feather accent.

Yeah, it's a stingy brim. We've dug up information on the forum showing that in the past, trilby was generally the UK name and fedora the US name (so even a 3 inch brimmed hat in the UK could be called a trilby), but also a lot of the time they were referred to as just "snap brims", no mention of fedora or trilby. So you can use anything you want, pretty much.

Thank you for the information Lokar. That clears up some ambiguity that I had on this subject.
