What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

Yeah like 80% of fits here are basically that combo.

My guess is that one of the things guys over here like about leather jackets is that they’re hard wearing. So since learher trousers are too much for most, denim is the closest.
As a blue collar guy jeans are mostly all I wear ( and some canvas work pants) and I've always worn them before I even got into jackets.
I simply never thought to change the type of pants I'm wearing just because I have a love of jackets, I'm not into fashion or anything like that.

The pioneer wear trucker and USGI commando sweater.
I still don't know what it is about this combo that I like, but I wouldn't be surprised if I'm the only one who likes it.

No I think that's a perfectly cool combo. I usually wear a collared button-front shirt just because I feel underdressed in any old T-shirt, but my guilty pleasure in cooler weather is a waffle long sleeve T. I have a couple colors and a couple as a Henley style. That's what this sweater is reminding me of. It's easy and cozy.

Much improved look. The pants are great. Don't shorten them. They work well with the jackets, better than jeans. I don't understand why the hell is the jeans x leather jacket combo such a staple.
I think because jeans are simply the ultimate trousers. When I look around me (public transport, office, ...), jeans are the dominant item of clothing (in whatever form). Very few people wear leather jackets worthy of the name. If someone does wear a leather jacket, it's simply in addition to what he/she would wear without a leather jacket. The result is this combo.
For me, it's a mixed bag. I often wear jeans, but also chinos.

I get it with Chinos, I get it with utility trousers. I wear the heavy canvas oiled when I am in that environment.

However, Mr Diamond and me are aligned on this one 'forever..

I love it! I have the Commando Sweater (or Woolly Pully) but tell me about the very all-American jacket and I’ll see if I can get something like it here in London.

Yep. That and medial. Social or otherwise.
100%. I wear jeans around 10x per year now. Denim just isn’t as comfy for me. Old school military slacks or utility pants is where I’m at now.

Ditto. There are SO many fantastic utility pants out there that fit like a dream, only to be completely overshadowed by jeans. . .

People wear what they know and they don't know any better. Jeans are so burned into collective consciousness that it's hard anymore to see past them.

I'm not into fashion or anything like that.

Lol you're literally an active member of a forum dedicated to fashion, posting selfies of your daily fashion choices. You could hardly be more into fashion.

I post pictures of jackets, but don't care about trends or whether my pants shirt or boots ...etc go with the jacket I'm wearing.
I just wear the clothes I want to wear and put on whatever jacket is appropriate for the days weather, I'm not putting together outfits...etc
I always wear the same belt and my favorite buckle, I carry a belt knife when I feel like it even if it may look odd, my sunglasses are my sunglasses regardless of how they look.
My main hat is an M81 woodland USGI patrol cap, it probably doesn't go with much that I wear but that's been my hat of choice since I was 12 and that's never changing.
I don't care if my vintage wool coats and jackets are " stylish " or anything, I'm just here to share my love of jackets.

I care about fashion as little as actually possible for a person who post pictures of jackets on an internet forum.

It was made by Pioneer Wear out of Albuquerque New Mexico back in the early 70's.
You can probably find a similar-ish suede trucker jacket, but you definitely won't find anything with this lining and probably not with the nicely contrasting white stitching.

New Mexico is very high on my list of US States to visit (I have so far been on the East and West Coasts but nowhere else in your country). I shall bring my Commando Sweater - or rather one or two of them, as I have not just the olive but the Navy and many other colours!

I wear jeans because I like the fly metal buttons, and how sturdy they feel, but I also like other pants, even ripstop fatigue pants and cargo pants, but I mostly wear jeans because the same like leather, denim looks better with more wears, the creases look more natural, and the fit changes with washes until it reaches its final fit where all the tension has gone, then the color starts to fade a little, what other pants look good when it starts fading and fraying other than thick good quality denim jeans?

we all here care about how we look at some degree , or try to learn or get inspired from each other by looking at various jacket + shirt + pants + shoes combos, otherwise this thread is forever empty...

posting here won't turn you into a fashionista or won't grow you tits and v, so relax

But that's the thing - Why would I want my pants to fade and fray??? And does the fading, fraying and all that crap really look good or have we simply been brainwashed into believing it does because Levi's wanted to peddle more shitty, cheap-ass, mass-produced pants?

it like subtle fading, I don't like fraying on my own pants, I mend them before it happens, I can't be relaxed looking at thread unraveling on my pants, to me it feels like riding a bike with flat tyre or driving a car with broken headlight, it has to be fixed before being worn again, but I like pictures of tattered jeans on other people who can live with it, as long as the jeans is good quality (heavy weight), the same like I enjoy looking at almost destroyed old boots or jacket, it looks cool, but I can't let my own to get into that state.

to me it's not brainwashed, but simply denim looks better that way, it gives more color nuance with various shades of blue and makes the pants look more 3 dimensional on the wearer. the same with leather jacket, once the color fades a little on the most worn parts or on the peak of the creases they just objectively look cooler.
